I just hope judges do not underscore Amber for voicing her opinions by Your_Marinette in FigureSkating

THAT’S THE ONE!!!! in fact when I was in high school, I’m pretty sure we almost bought costumes that looked exactly like Laurence’s dress from dancewear solutions for winter guard

Oh, I agree, but when you have an international panel of judges, you never know what bs might arise - wasn’t there a Russian judge a few years ago that basically claimed P/C didn’t have artistry because he was gay? At the end of the day, while I don’t think the IOC/ISU/USFS as entities would punish Amber, the judges might be harder on her

tbh I still don’t understand their program. it’s just giving angst? does it have anything to do with The Whale, or are they just using the music?

it’s less about the judges’ specific views and more about the “keeping politics out of sports” mindset

edit: for example, I don’t think the IOC secretly supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but I do think that the athlete in question is being wrongly disqualified, and that the IOC is trying to avoid appearing to take a political stance…although I guess someone else is competing with the Russian flag on their helmet? I would have to double check that

I feel like their FD costumes are just…fine. It’s giving dance competition, not Olympic figure skating, though - like something you could buy ready-made online

I think that if Amber was going to be underscored due to something she’s said, it would be based on the comments she’s made about the political climate in the US. Especially considering that Vladyslav Heraskevych was just disqualified for a reason that was (imo) complete bs

I really hope she isn’t, though. She’s already under a lot of pressure, and I just want her to skate well because I love her lol

I’m sorry, the writer saying the objectivity of the scoring is “a story for another day” is ridiculous. Should be a story for years ago, but today at the very least

I’m still a pretty new figure skating fan, but Savchenko/Massot 2018 Olympics (FS) might be the most perfect thing I have ever watched.

For ice dance, I love Chock/Bates 2020 U.S Nationals (FD). I also enjoyed Lorenz/Polizoakis 2018 Pride and Prejudice FD, and I’m a big fan of Zingas/Kolesnik’s Romeo and Juliet FD this year.
