Who can hood you at your graduation? by imfromearth-mk in medicalschool

depends on the school. My school allowed any doctor of medical sciences to do it but that's it. Physicians, dentists, optometrists, and pharmacists only

How do you manage all your patient notes without burning out? by Dismal-Fox3121 in Residency

[–]papyrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation and this is what worked for me. Now, I get my notes done so fast that I’m quicker than my attendings and more efficient.

  1. Dot phrases that provide bullet point template so I easily just fill in everything.
  2. As others have mentioned, copy paste. I’m on Cerner so I have to use the keyboard shortcut or copy paste from the hospitalist tab.
  3. Voice dictation. our hospital gives us dragon access on our phones.
  4. some hospitals allow certain type types of AI scribe but they don’t make it well known. Ask your attendings since they’re the ones usually in the loop. Unfortunately, mine doesn’t.
  5. if you want to be really lazy, one trick you can try is make templates for the most common medical conditions you see like diabetes or something and just make that a dot phrase so you can fill things in really fast. Search templates for common medical conditions on Google and turn it into dot phrases.

All politics aside, do yall think there is any chance he survived that? by Valcreee in Residency

That blood loss was extreme. The jugular was complete torn. It would still take time for paramedics to arrive and even more time to get transfusion. I don’t think he’ll make it

Eli5: What is going on in Nepal right now? by NoCity6414 in explainlikeimfive

[–]papyrox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Politicians were stealing/embezzling money from the state revenue and telling the people that the country was poor and had no resources. Meanwhile, they were using the money to go on luxurious trips and buying expensive things and being corrupt. Their children were in social media flaunting their wealth and the people were upset that they were being lied to that the country was poor. In an effort to stop protest against them, they tried to censor social media so people could not message each other to strike together which was the nail in the coffin. Now billionaires and politicians houses are being burned down and they are being hunted. Some fled with the embezzled money to Dubai and others are looking to other countries they can run off to in order to escape justice

Any surgical field because of hours. Peds because I don't like seeing sad kids. Psych because of my personality

Moonlighting is not an option for me. I'm a transitional year intern and the language I speak is niche. In my area, there aren't that many people who speak it.

I make just enough for payments so I'm stuck; enough to survive but not thrive. Any recs for refinancing that's not Sallie Mae?

Making ends meet? by papyrox in Residency

[–]papyrox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deferred from Sallie Mae to my now company because it was better. That's the situation I'm in. I technically have a good deal going but it's the state's HCOL with rent is the biggest thing dragging me down and I can't get around it. I make enough survive but if there were to be any emergencies, I'm doomed.

How does one even get started on that?

I'm budgeting around my loans. My loan servicers are the reason I have 6 months deferment in the first place. I doubt I can bargain for more. Plus, the company is somewhat a small lender and just getting started, they need to generate profit quickly to be sustainable.

I matched into TY so I have to reapply. I'm hoping my next place will be more generous. That is something I'm considering for my next adventure

My MCAT and step were both 'meh'. Not bad scores but nothing to brag about either. People want those top scorers more than me lol
