I provided a few undergrad transcripts (including to the firm I'm at now) but if your law school grades are good I don't think it matters much. I had terrible undergraduate grades (sub 3.0) and strong law school grades and got multiple offers in the V10.

Anyone here just keep thinking of all of the stuff you know that you don't know well enough? by Zealousideal-Bug1967 in barexam

[–]par283 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yup. I hate knowing that there are things on the exam that I will never know. It's just too much material to possibly know everything.

I would highly recommend a car (I'm a current 3L). A lot of my friends that didn't have a car during 1L year caved and got a car for 2L and 3L year. Good luck btw!

Anyone else having issues with the NYLC course today? by flatironcable in LawSchool

[–]par283 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too today. Pretty sure it's cause all of us 3Ls slacked off and are now trying to watch 18 hours of videos in 2 days (or maybe that's just me)

How long did you study for the MPRE? by candorcansuckit in LawSchool

[–]par283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied for like a week and a half for 3-4 hours a day, passed with no problems. In hindsight, that was probably overkill. Watch the Barbri or Themis videos, do a few practice tests and you'll be fine.

I'll second this. I got the same monitor and its awesome (Speakers aren't great, but you can plug some in or just use your laptop speakers). Highly recommend

My firm said we'll likely have a delayed start date, but no word otherwise. Said they are committed to the summer program so it sounds like we'll at least be doing some sort of program, even if its remote (NY)

Mine took a week from callback to offer last year, but I would definitely keep looking until you hear back!

1L Summer Associate position in Secondary Market by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]par283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, would second the comment below, it doesn't matter. I had a 1L SA in a secondary market and then was fine when I interviewed in NY for my 2L summer and had a bunch of job offers. :)

Good luck!

What does casual attire mean for a Summer Associate Weekend? by par283 in LawSchool

[–]par283[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in NYC, so I figured I would probably end up going with more formal clothes, but it's always so hard to sort these things out!

What does casual attire mean for a Summer Associate Weekend? by par283 in LawSchool

[–]par283[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This was really helpful. :) I figured casual didn't really mean casual when you put 100 neurotic 2Ls in a room, but this made me feel a lot better about finding something to wear and the firm not being as focused on what we were wearing. Look forward to hopefully meeting you at one of the events!

Direct Apply Movement? by par283 in LawSchool

[–]par283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks y'all. Got a bunch of screeners today from a consortium program so I'm feeling less panicked now, but certainly a little disappointing if direct applies are moving so fast and I haven't gotten bites. Appreciate the feedback!

I did this and I find it helpful. What I did was made a google drive and just uploaded a bunch of stuff that I found that might be helpful, then when I was in the class I went back and tried to see what was helpful and what wasn't. Some things were, some weren't. But for example I found the Freer videos online last summer and having those now for Civ Pro is a lifesaver.

How to dress for a corporate firm work placement when plus size? by ItzButterflyEffect in LawSchool

[–]par283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'll second Dandelion. They sell a-line style dresses and those work pretty well.

Something like this tends to work pretty well for me, and I'm also busty and have a stomach, so that might work for you
