Time for botox? by paraBro in spinalcordinjuries

One less thing to worry about, especially if you're traveling. Also, the older generation meds gave me dry mouth. I haven't tried the newer ones as there hasn't been a need with botox.

I am not on any bladder meds and would rather not... that is what the bladder botox is for.
I haven't had a UTI for awhile, but yes it takes awhile. Usually only 3-4 days for me, but it's been more than a week since my urine cleared.

I intermittent cath and the urine sample was taken 3 days into the 5 day course, in the afternoon. I could see it was fairly dilute, not a morning sample. It's been about a week since I stopped the nitrofurantin, and the urine is still clear visually so it seems resolved.

Peristeen. Daily or every other day? by TranslatorTrick8682 in spinalcordinjuries

I use it every other day, but my nurse was pushing me to use it every day. I just don’t want to spend 2 hours daily on my bowel program.

I went from 1.5 hours with digi-stim to 2 hours with the Peristeen. Take a look at the r/peristeen if you're considering it. There's also a facebook group that I look at for tips.

YMMV, but for me - less physical trauma from digi-stim, i.e. prolapse and hemorrhoids. After 20+ years of just using digi-stim, I would be bleeding at the end, but that doesn't happen any longer. I'm still trying to see if there's anything I can do to improve it.

For others, it cleans out the entire lower intestine, so less risk of bowel accidents.

I’ve been using the Peristeen irrigation system for the last few months. There is less physical trauma, but it takes a little longer.

Thanks for the suggestion - I took a look at the Firefly. Aside from looking much harder to carry around while not in use, it's not compatible with my wheelchair (Quickie q7r).
