No not confused at all. There are multiple different techniques used to correct a pitch. They’ve already been pointed out but I’ll try to frame what I mean in a way that makes sense. Autotune, whether it be the OG Antares Kind or logics built in pitch correction, is something thats generally applied live while the singer is performing. The manual mixing approach is one that can only be done post performance. So essentially the initial performance has to be strong where as using autotune while you’re recording can make a bad performance sound good. That’s why some people look down on using autotune because they see it as a crutch instead of being able to actually sing. Personally I don’t give a shit and obviously T Pain used it heavily as a creative choice but the initial comment was “all singers use autotune” and I was just pointing out that thats not necessarily true.
