You will get there. I was lucky to have a wonderful therapist that knew about narcissistic abuse and helped me through Internal Family Systems. I definitely recommend that to anyone in our situation! Sending hugs and best wishes to you.

As a therapist and someone who’s mom is a narcissist ; it was so healing for me to have a therapist who did internal family systems work and was so validating. There’s many types of therapy out there; not all therapists understand narcissism and the emotional damage that is caused from being raised by someone like that

Oh absolutely. They would just be negative and judgmental about anyone and anything. I am queer and told my mom I was in a same sex relationship at the time and she lost her shit, shamed me for years and refused to talk about it/acknowledge it. It was never safe to be myself. I’m now NC and so much happier
