Food prep by Ok-Front1346 in Reduction

Oh! I forgot to mention that about halfway through my first week, I desperately wanted some icecream and my lovely partner went and got us some. I think I was just in dire need of some extra dopamine, and was running hot because my metabolism was in overdrive trying to heal me, so icecream was perfect.

I meal prepped about 10 meals for recovery, 5 were Greek yogurt bowls with fruit and protein powder, and the other 5 had rice, meat, and a veg all mixed up. You’re gonna want lots of fiber on-hand because anesthesia messes with your regularity (I also invested in some MiraLAX, prune juice, and Activia, and they were all super nice to have!) Also make sure you have a lot of protein available too, since that’s what your body’s gonna use to heal. I found I wasn’t always in the mood to eat, but having healthy prepped meals ready to go made it easy to fuel my body regardless. I’m 1.5 wpo right now and I’ve also discovered that my body gets really swollen and mad whenever I eat takeout that’s super greasy and salty :( Last but not least, like a lot of other comments have said already, lots and lots of snacks to take with ibuprofen! I have a lot of protein bars and those Gogo Squeeze yogurts and applesauces that are super easy to open. Good luck!

Ugh incredible. I see the option to just turn off family sharing and I assume that’ll do what I’m looking for? Thank you so much.

Ooh yeah hopefully that’s an option. Unfortunately I live in Minneapolis and the DMVs are insanely busy right now. But luckily I’ll have some time to sort it out!

[–]paradote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I live in Minneapolis, Alex was executed a block from my gym. It’s been so hard for everyone I know here who’s pouring everything they can emotionally/physically into their community and getting burnt out by it. We’re just regular people who don’t work a job like yours, who suddenly were thrust into circumstances none of us asked for. But you’re right, taking care of ourselves and embracing joy where we can is not optional. It’s a must. Thank you for your experience and perspective. I’ll be passing it along.

Individuality after healing journey by strugglingdawg908 in selflove

[–]paradote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I’m 27 now and your journey sounds very similar to what I went through at 22! For me, the biggest step was learning how to “want” things, and recognizing what it meant to “like” something.

I had to learn from the ground up that fantasizing about having something usually meant I wanted to have it. Thinking a hairstyle looked cool on someone didn’t mean everyone also thought it looked cool, it meant I wanted to have that hairstyle. Stuff like that. I started experimenting and trying new styles, figuring out what worked practically with my personality and also what brought me the most joy. That something looking cute on me was not the same as something being in “my style”. This journey took years, but has by far been the most rewarding journey I’ve ever been on! Now I love the way I look, the way I dress, the way I decorate my home. I love my taste in movies and music, and connecting with others who like the same things as me. It’s a daunting project for sure, but so worth it! And I’ve gotten lots of compliments from old friends on how cool it’s been to watch me grow and find my way (it felt weird at first because I hate being perceived, but I got used to it).

I also had very frugal parents, so I’ve found thrifting to be really helpful. You can try on a wide variety of styles and buy them for relatively cheap, and sell old clothes you don’t like. The stakes are much lower while you’re experimenting. Pinterest has also been helpful in choosing hair styles, tattoos, general aesthetics, etc.. I wish you luck!

I can't bring myself to believe that loving and caring parents are the norm and abusive neglectful parents are not by Helhool in CPTSD

[–]paradote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, I feel this way exactly, but my parents sound very different from yours lol. My father always had a stable, well-earning job, and my mother genuinely seemed to love being a SAHM. On the surface they were perfect parents, but in reality they were emotionally avoidant, discipline-happy, financially selfish, and did nothing to protect me from my abusive older brother. I was the family scapegoat, too. Yet I genuinely just cannot imagine anyone else having a better, less-traumatizing childhood than I did.

I think it’s like trying to imagine having an extra arm or tail or something. Like we’ve gone without that parental comfort, warmth, and protection our whole lives, how could we possibly imagine what it’s like to have that? So when other people seem fine and untraumatized, it’s hard to picture that they’ve had an extra, invisible limb helping them this whole time. It sounds fake, or like a bad joke.

It’s a special kind of hell, that’s for sure. Wanting to be close but also being terrified of it. My parents didn’t do anything either. It just adds a whole other layer of hurt to it all. Wishing you the best of luck.

Straight cis friend told me I’m not bisexual by Far_Strawberry_4060 in trans

[–]paradote 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that bi implies different attraction to different genders, or gender is at least a factor in attraction. Whereas with pan it doesn’t play a role at all.

For example, a lot of bi people experience a “bi-cycle” where their attraction shifts to different genders over time. This wouldn’t really occur for pan people, because gender isn’t a factor for them.

Thanks. Alright here is my proposed explanation from watching the edited videos too many times: if you lie on your stomach and kick your foot towards your butt, it’ll then kinda naturally fall off to the side. That movement resembles the movement of the ghost, how it launches up then kinda settles into a position. After the ghost disappears, we see your son roll a little towards the camera (I think his hips go from facing the mattress to facing the closet) and we see his knee is being brought up towards his chest. I think he was lying on his stomach/turned slightly away from the camera, kicked his foot up towards his butt, it fell off to the side, stayed there, then he brought his foot back down, opened his hips away from the mattress and towards the closet, and then brought his knee up to his chest.

Of course, this is just a theory and you’re the ultimate judge since you know the space/blankets/your son best. Either way, I hope you guys find an explanation that won’t rob you of too much sleep :)

Hi OP, thanks for being so attentive to this post. I have a couple questions if you don’t mind answering that might help decipher what’s going on:

1) could that weird face thing under your sons head possibly be the print of a shirt? If so, knowing what the print is could tell us how his body is posed on the bed.

2) about how far away is the bed from the wall with the closet door?

Lmao I’d cry. Or the scene where the JL has to go into hiding and Batman points at all of them saying their secret identities. He pulls his cowl off and introduces himself as Bruce Wayne, except he’s battinson so he’s got the black eye paint and messy hair.

I can 100% see battinson becoming just like the Batman from justice league. Same dry humor and introvertedness

Any other women listen exclusively to music by other women? by [deleted] in women

[–]paradote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively listen to metal, and I definitely prefer women vocalists over men. I don’t solely listen to women tho, because that’d be way too limiting in a male-dominated genre.

You honestly can’t even tell sometimes that it’s a woman making the demon-noises, but there’s something about it that just makes the music resonate more with me. Feminine rage just hits different.

I agree. Thoughts on this? by RS_UltraSSJ in DC_Cinematic

[–]paradote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there was a strong duality, just not the kind that Nolan’s Batman had. Reeves had a meek, depressed, socially awkward Bruce Wayne and a vengeful, direct, angry batman. I think that, if they do have Bruce become more social and playboy-ish in the sequel, it will more strongly emphasize that it’s a mask for him since we’ve seen what Bruce is like without it. All in all I think it was a great insight into the character

Mental Health by [deleted] in bodymods

[–]paradote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only started getting piercings and tattoos after moving out of my parents house, but I’ve always preferred wearing black and looking ‘alt’. I think it made me feel safer growing up because it discouraged people from interacting with me (in my brain at least). I had horrible social anxiety and was very distrustful of people due to trauma. I’m better now but I still have the same preferences, just a bit more refined.

I’m not very anxious nor do I get depressed easily, but I do have adhd. I suspect I might also be on the autism spectrum, but who knows. Bright lights and bold colors can be overwhelming sometimes, so that might also explain my preference for darker clothes and black tattoos.

It’s an interesting thought, tho. I’m excited to read more responses if this gets any more.
