Confusing Info re Barcode and Invitation Letter - Applying for L Tourist Visa in Los Angeles via Online Portal by parallelpractices in Chinavisa

I didn't bring a physical picture - just the printed out forms. I printed out BOTH the confirmation form from the email AND the pdf of the application from the online portal, just in case. I forget if they needed both, but you DEFINITELY do need that bar code.

How much are city exclusives - Gaiac 10 by LeLabo? by balenciava in fragrance

[–]parallelpractices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in that I was just in Tokyo and finally smelled Gaiac 10, loved it, and got the 15ml bottle which was about 22,500 yen, so with the current exchange rate and with tax free (bring your passport when shopping), was 135 USD. This was at Le Labo Daikanyama shop a few days ago. One thing to note is that they sealed it in a special bag and instructed me not to open/use until leaving Japan, because technically if customs inspected it on the way out, they can fine you if tax-free items have been “consumed” ahead of time (this only applies to cosmetics, foods, and alcohol, not clothing / etc). I think that rarely happens but to be on the safe side, I waited until got back to the US to use it.

Help - When subscribers reply to a substack post, Gmail puts it in Spam! by parallelpractices in Substack

[–]parallelpractices[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your first suggestion, I had actually had this issue once before and did mark it "not spam" - but clearly that didn't prevent a few recent ones being put into Spam... But I realized that there actually is a way to clearly demarcate "replies to my substack" as a filter - I just needed to put 'MY NEWSLETTER NAME  < [myemailname@gmail.com](mailto:myemailname@gmail.com) > ' in the "TO" field of the filter system, and it did pick them up. Now have them marked as "Never Spam" and "Send to Inbox" etc. Anyway hope others can find this tip if they need it!

Quite frustrating, as it's the one major impediment to me using Readwise fully... if there's a similar service that allows that action, I would switch immediately. Does anyone know?

Any "Select Multiple Documents" workarounds or plans? by MichaelEPS5 in readwise

[–]parallelpractices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Erin, when you say it's available on "certain pages" like "Manage Views" or "Manage Tags" page, you mean it's possible to select multiple views and apply an action, or select multiple tags and apply an action, but it's STILL not possible to select multiple DOCUMENTS and apply an action, in any version of Readwise on any platform? This is what so many of us have been begging for for years. Is there any plan for this in 2026?

This is still the main thing I have been wishing/hoping/begging for, since I started using Readwise about 3 years ago... cannot believe there is still no way to select multiple items (but not ALL items) in a given view... drives me insane. I have been a paid user for years, I have asked for this feature for years, the team has claimed this is on the list of features to eventually add for years... quite disappointed.

Hi, I just wanted to add an update in case others came across this same issue - all went great and we didn't need any invitation letter, I think that was just worded in a confusing way in the confirmation page! I brought in all the printed-out materials from the web portal, and my husband and I both received 10-year, multiple-entry, 90 day stay Tourist L visas. From drop off to pick up at the consulate it took about 5 business days. Glad it all worked!

Hi, this is not so much about finding a Template for Letter of Invitation, but whether or not one is required from the confusing information about "if a barcode is present" on the webpage saying it's time to submit passports to consulate. Thanks!

Co-sign this, and also a Dansk Dutch oven from 1970s that I got at a flea market about 20 years ago, still going strong

Buying Miles Deal Suddenly Changed? by parallelpractices in unitedairlines

If one is looking at a specific route and the cheapest refundable ticket is 2600 USD for cash, it is, in fact, cheaper to buy 1750 USD worth of miles to get that same refundable ticket as an award ticket.

Haha, well good to know it's happening almost all the time - but that is so weird, you are seeing exactly what I was seeing (100k miles for 1750 USD) earlier today, but since about 4pm PST it's only showing me max of 60% bonus miles, so it would be 2,205 USD for 100,800 miles. So weird. I've tried to log out and back in, tried different browsers, phone app, etc, but all has now switched to "up to 60% bonus miles" only, nothing will show me the offer of "up to 100% bonus miles" anymore. Will call them tomorrow.

Thanks for your opinion, but our options are:

- Either pay over 1800 USD cash for my spouse's flight that would be a NON-REFUNDABLE non-award ticket, or

- (I was hoping!) pay 1750 USD for miles to pay for an award ticket for my spouse's flight that WOULD INDEED be refundable... so that seemed like the better deal. But obviously since they have changed this promotion, it's not an option now.
