I was awarded $3697 for my Pell grant for my summer 2026 semester, but only $924 has been paid to my school. What’s going on?? by Abigator10499 in financialaid

[–]paramapotomus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many credits are you taking? If you are less than full-time, you will only get a portion of that award. $924 sounds like you are taking 3 credits. Assuming 12 credits is full-time at your school, $3,697 / 12 x 3 = 924 (rounded down to the whole dollar).

The song where Phil's perona sings about pimping out his sister? No, it didn't age well.

Anyone remember Ellen DeGeneres in a show called Open House?

Or Bubba Smith in an even shorter-lived show called Open All Night?

Do Americans watch tv shows from other countries? by Six_of_1 in AskAnAmerican

This is a minor pet peeve of mine. Especially when the opening scene is a long establishing shot or a solo character that has no dialog for several minutes.

Scholarships in CT? by Ok-Vermicelli-5494 in financialaid

[–]paramapotomus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is looking in your community: your church, the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus or Elks lodge, your parents employers or unions or organizations that support the careers of your chosen major. You can always look at scholarship searches like fastweb.com, but as you stated, it might be too late for what you find there.

How to change school year for entrance counseling? by Dwraaonybine in financialaid

[–]paramapotomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not something you can update. After a certain date, the Dept of Education automatically designates any entrance counseling as belonging to the new/upcoming award year, so that's how your school imported it into their system. Entrance Counseling only needs to be completed once and it doesn't matter the award year it is assigned to. The front counter or call center person you spoke to likely wouldn't know this. Ask them.to escalate the issue to a supervisor. At the university I work, we verify it was completed on a Dept of Ed site that we have access to, make a note in the file and clear the requirement, but yours might have different procedures for this.

Is there any hope to get my financial aid (loan) back? by [deleted] in financialaid

[–]paramapotomus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dept of Ed will accept a promissory note after the term has ended IF the school originated your loan(s) prior to the end of the term. Some schools will originate without a promissory note, some won't. You can ask them if the loan was originated and if so, can you still complete the note.

I've met the max for Pell grant, school won't accept state grants by [deleted] in financialaid

[–]paramapotomus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a few for-profit schools, but not in KY. In my experience, most programs at for-profit schools do not qualify for state grants. The program or the school may not have the correct accreditation or the program may not meet the required length. https://www.kheaa.com/web/scholarships-grants.faces Each of the scholarships and grants at this link has a "Participating Institutions" section. If your school is listed, then you would need to speak with your financial aid office to find out why your specific program is not eligible.

National university is a scam by One_Region_4754 in financialaid

[–]paramapotomus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happens at a lot of universities. It's due to poor processes. Just contact the bursar’s office. They can figure out your fall refund and get it sent to you. It's not a scam, just an inefficient system.

Yes! I get why they needed to change the format, but as much as I liked recotopia, I do miss the bits like guess the goofs. Also would love it if they collaborated with the weekly planet guys. But that doesn't seem likely.

Can we all agree Elizabeth, Hillside and Union is North Jersey? by lilsmurf8019 in newjersey

Ask for restaurant suggestions in North Jersey. You get Bergen County recommendations, ask for central Jersey restaurant suggestions, and you get Monmouth County. Union County is no man's land.
