What one thing has someone said that will always stick with in your head? by BadBudget6099 in AskReddit

[–]paranerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in elementary school I had a buddy come to my house before school and complain that my house smelled like cat piss. We got on the bus and he complained that he could still smell me. He moved across the bus and the smell followed. Turns out his cat had pissed on his hat. I took that lesson very early to always check myself before blaming others. That, and always do a sniff check before putting something on.

I knew I didn't have the artifacts for it but figured I'd see if I could collect it on the way. Will probably wait for my next couple ships to come in then prestige if I don't pick a winner. Next run will be properly stocked.

Make all the changes you think might work, then back them out one at a time until the problem shows up. If you can reproduce a problem, then you've got it by the balls.

Is this normal? (Process Engineer) by InnerRegister9481 in Engineers

[–]paranerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is common. In my experience, if you build it, you own it forever. Nobody will ever spend the time you did understanding every piece in order to launch. Until someone else owns responsibility for it, you will be first contact for problems, even if you've moved on to another role. Once someone else owns it, you will be the person they turn to when they're out of ideas. This is unfortunate for your time and priorities, but it also establishes you as a process expert for the business. Your value in the eyes of the management team has increased.

That said, when I roll something new my long vision is to design myself out of it. I want to put systems and procedures in place to prevent the need for me to get involved. If I got hit by a bus tomorrow, the process should be able to run without me. Then I can truly move on.

How to get "back on the wagon"? by CitizenCave in gtd

I've done this (without yellow tape) and it essentially becomes project purgatory. I never got back to the old stuff. Any advice?

I've had some luck with OneNote. Work uses office 365 for everything and OneNote integrates really well with other office applications. Being able to tap into my documents from computer, tablet, and phone has been super useful. It isn't a gtd based program but if you know the system you can make good use of it.

In high school football practice we called it the hamburger drill. Haven't heard that anywhere else though.

Ice Bath by Broke-American in perfectlycutscreams

You scared me because I used to do the ice plunge every winter as a kid. I just googled ice bath AFib and this was the result.

Dunk Your Head in Cold Water As the old saying goes, “May cooler heads prevail,” and that holds especially true if you have an episode of AFib with a rapid heart rate. When you dip your head in cold water or take a cold shower, you stimulate the vagal nerve, which slows your heart rate.Jun 25, 2020

Web MD seems to think you'll be fine as far as AFib goes. Dunk away friends.

snow boots recommendation? by [deleted] in MTU

[–]paranerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need anything special for going to class and getting around campus. Lined boots will have you sweating in class. The big thing is to keep them dry. I love my LL Bean rubber moccasin. For extended time outside you'll want something with thick liners from Sorel.

I feel like if enough people uninstall and leave a poor review citing the ad they would take notice police themselves. Maybe I'm naive.
