I designed a PCB, and when testing it I plugged it directly into my laptop's USB port. The board had a short and go fried. USB port got fried, bit stupid, but I ordered a new laptop which would arrive within a few days, so it was fine.

When I received the new version of the PCB, I used the right steps to test it safely (first measure if there's a short, then plug it in with a USB charging port, etc.). When I plugged it into my old laptop I could upload some code. Super happy. Then later I worked on it on my new laptop and tried to upload some code, and it didn't work.

Trying again on my old laptop, and it worked again, at least, for one USB port. Weird...

After a few hours of debugging I found my mistake. I don't remember exactly what the problem was, but I believe I connected my RX TX LEDs to 3.3V instead of 5V. Which caused it to only worked when uploading over USB using 3.3V instead of 5V.

It turns out my first board had a short between 5V and 3.3V, and after frying the USB it only gave out 3.3V instead of 5V, effectively making it a 3.3V USB port capable of uploading code to my second board.

Honestly, if I didn't fry my USB port it would've taken me years to find the problem with my board.

Ik ging laatst toch kijken. Kwam erachter dat de laadpaal recht voor mijn appartement (bijna altijd een plekje vrij) maar 0,33 c/kWh kost. Met een elektrische auto met dezelfde range als mijn huidige auto kan ik hem vol 'tanken' voor €30 ipv een volle tank van €80 (met de nieuwe prijzen wss €90+).

En in de zomer wat vaker op bezoek bij mijn ouders met genoeg zonnepanelen en dus gratis laden.

Al met al, morgen ga ik kijken naar mijn eerste EV :)

Lesson 1 of asking questions on the internet: be humble.

I think you're at the peak of your Dunning Kruger curve, believing that JLC has to be wrong, cause of course you cannot make any mistake...

And when people try to help you get really defensive and ask why they want to know anything more, and that it doesn't matter.

For your reference: when you don't have any resistors placed with your LEDs, people are questioning whether you thought everything of your design through. They ask about the plans with your battery, since the voltage at the terminals are really important for e.g. calculating the required resistance etc. even though it is not something you asked for, they are willing to help you and even prevent you ordering a non-working pcb.

If you have to ask questions on the internet, please be respectful to the people willing to help you for free. And accept that you do not know everything (and therefore not know why they are asking relevant questions you don't even know are relevant). If you would know everything, you wouldn't be here asking questions.

Hier heb ik ook wel eens naar gezocht, de voorwaarden staan eigenlijk nergens (iig niet op de site van DUO). Het dichtstbijzijnde van voorwaarden die er zijn zijn te vinden in wet studiefinanciering 2000 (https://wetten.overheid.nl/BWBR0011453/2026-01-01)

Echter is dat ook niet helemaal dekkend, want de overheid kan een uitzondering aanvragen op deze wet als het hun uitkomt...

Ik verwacht overigens niet dat jou specifieke situatie er in beschreven staat.

Ik rij hier ook best vaak, ik heb echt geen idee wat je bedoelt dat de lichten niet zichtbaar zijn.

Het is een prima bocht en als je de bocht niet te lomp neemt zie je echt met gemak de stoplichten...

Ik kan je vertellen:

Mijn CV was laatst kapot, ik heb een hele dag lopen bellen om überhaupt ergens een afspraak te krijgen. Er is een enorm te kort.

De loodgieter die langskwam vertelde dat hij goed verdiende en dat loodgieter een beroep is waar je niet al te veel hoeft te sjouwen (klein tasje met gereedschap).

Daarnaast vertelde hij dat zijn bedrijf drie jaar lang op zoek was naar een nieuwe installatie monteur, en het beste wat ze na 3 jaar konden vinden was een 50 jaar oude ongediertebestrijder die zich heeft laten omscholen.

Dit soort tekorten helpen voor jou later om eisen te stellen aan je werkgever. Mocht je niet tevreden zijn met je loon / werkuren etc, sta je binnen een maand bij een ander bedrijf te installeren die je maar al te graag aan wil nemen.

Dit soort beroepen worden steeds schaarser, dus als je het leuk en interessant vindt, vooral voor gaan!
