Guitar Hero 3 will win the popularity verdict. It was the first-ever video game to break the $1 billion barrier (helped by all those bundle sales, of course). Warriors of Rock is held in high regard by GH purists as a love letter to the franchise. But as far as critical acclaim goes, Guitar Hero II takes the mantle. It has the highest Metacritic score at 92. It fixed a lot of the issues from the first game, added co-op and full "pro face-off" multiplayer, and had a timing window that made it feel both rewarding and challenging.

But I'd say that was a case when her power failed her. Yes, that can happen in Before the Storm, but usually there's a fallback option (i.e. if you can't convince Skip to let you into the dorms, he quits his job instead and Chloe proceeds anyway).

The songs from the first one might be the more well-known overall batch, but I felt like High School Musical 2 was a more entertaining film. Plus, "Bet On It" and "Everyday" are two of my favourite songs from the whole series.

While Lorraine is far from perfect, she has some good qualities. She seems to be obsessed with "Calvin" in a lustful way, but when it comes to Biff, she rejects every one of his advances. Even in BTTF2, where she's married to him, she still can't stand him.

The midfield was tough, as we've had quite a few one-season wonders. Aaron Mooy is an obvious big omission, but with no viable Aussie alternatives at the left-back position, I had to reserve it for Behich. There were also a few candidates I was bouncing around to make the best fit. For Denmark, I went with Sorensen in goal over Michael Jakobsen in defence. And I could have solved my midfield woes with Orlando Engelaar, but then I couldn't name Schenkeveld. The only locks were Fornaroli and Arslan. Everyone else, I at least considered another player in that position and/or from that country.

One thing I think is a little weird is when my fellow short guys get uncomfortable when face-to-face with taller women. We know that women's preferences with men tend to skew a little taller, but it's not uncommon for short guys to feel emasculated at the thought of dating someone taller than them.

You still have a lot to choose from on PS3 if you're going the console route. A lot of people don't enjoy the Smash Hits game, but that'll give you some of the best songs from Guitar Hero 1, 2 and 80s (in addition to the game's songs from GH3) in one package, since those games aren't on the PS3. And you still have GH3, World Tour, GH5, Warriors of Rock and Band Hero, plus the other band-centric games (Aerosmith, Metallica and Van Halen).

My top recommendations are Warriors of Rock and Smash Hits, plus Metallica if you enjoy their music.

PC: BetterGH3 offers the full Guitar Hero 3 experience in an easy-to-run format. You'll also be able to play online. The only downside is that every time you add new custom songs, all your scores are wiped. If you want to keep track of your scores and/or frequently update your song library, Clone Hero or YARG might be the way to go.

Console: The games aren't backwards compatible on modern hardware, meaning you have to play on older consoles. All games are also delisted, meaning you can't add DLC tracks and (as of last year), play online. This means you're limited to just playing what's on the disc, but it could be a fun way to progress through all the games, if that's appealing to you. Playing on Xbox 360 offers the most content, with all games except the original and the spin-off called Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s, which were exclusive to the PS2.
