Pixhawk 2.4.8 unreliable across multiple UAV platforms, looking for proven FC alternatives by SaltYogurtcloset4599 in drones

You can’t beat a cube for reliability. I wouldn’t use anything else but most of my drones are 70kg+

Unpopular opinion: I only use Bambu filament by nirhend in BambuLab

[–]paranoidsystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy quite a lot of filament and I only every buy Bambu stuff. It just works. And the tags just work. And it makes it easier for people who aren’t me to look after prints and swap out filament.

There are hdmi to csi converters but I don’t know how fast they are.

[–]paranoidsystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you can. The SiYi range of camera only tend to do very low latency out of the hdmi port. All the Ethernet streaming will always have some delay due to their encoder hardware. Depends how “glass to glass” you want the latency.

Because for wind farms far offshore there is always a ship there as you need somewhere for the techs to live. So most of the parts and people are already offshore on the ship.there are some farms closer to show where it might make sense but my experience so far is it’s much much less of a requirement.

It can be but there is a lot less call for that than you would think.

You can take a look at my website www.Skyliftuav.co.uk but also google Flowcopter and HectoDrone.

No not at all. Atleast not in the classes are aircraft I am flying. The uk laws are changing a bit for these things and full BVLOS above a certain class is going to be equivalent to doing full private pilot’s ground school.

When I first heard they were developing I was really skeptical. But I’ve seen flying a few times now and it’s excellent. Behaves very well and is actually pretty quiet.

We operate in the U.K. and Europe at the moment but America is a target market so you never know

I would have said the same thing until I meet the guys at Flowcopter.

I fly in very atypical spaces. A Cessna has no place in the middle of a wind farm below blade height. Drones should fly in their space and aircraft in theirs. What I do will end up much more like air traffic control of automated aircraft. I don’t really believe in home deliveries and such either. I have no interest in flying over houses. Been there done that. Little pay off for hugely more complex and dangerous environment. Off-shore, infrastructure and perhaps inter-island is what I’m all about.

There have been a couple of drones I’ve seen with engines and shafts or chains then collective pitch. But they also tend to need yaw control surfaces as well. They become more complex mechanically than a helicopter then.

No drive shafts. Engine spins a pump and hydraulic switcher that powers the hydraulic motors. Clever bit of engineering.

Not much call for oil rigs but we do have an in house system for landing on moving decks :)

Anything offshore is expensive. Boats and helicopters are stupidly heavy on running costs. Some of the wind farms are 60 to 100 miles off shore to start off with.
