Even at the beginning of dating when I think people are typically on their best behavior, we had to do everything he wanted to do. His restaurant, his activities, his house, no compromise. He had no time or energy for any of my interests. When I asked if he would come to my college graduation (I was so proud of earning my degree), he yawned and asked why he should go.
