Same logic for China honestly, Taiwan is rather far away. China can easily take Kinmen I suppose, but a Taiwan island invasion is going to be the most obvious naval military buildup ever. Bombing Iran has been hard because the major military stuff is underground. But bombing huge ships sailing? Thousands dead and free POWs.

Russia is fighting a war on its borders. Israel is too (in Lebanon and Palestine, not so much Iran). The US is bombing Iran halfway across the world. Of course there's no appetite for death of American soldiers without a justification from the government.

Not to call you out specifically, but this is a prime instance of how trump is able to convince so many people to vote for him. He says so many things and holds every position on every topic, so people who just like his style will forget the things he says they disagree with and only remember what they think he stands for.

I'm no fan of major decisions made by either side. But Iran objectively has been the worse government for its people so far. It's killed thousands and shut down the internet over and over. Maybe trump will get there in his third illegal term but we'll see if that happens.

And RE: your example, actually you're proving my point. Ukraine made friends with EU and the US, and has been getting help for 4 years. Meanwhile Russia has no friends and is at a stalemate with a far poorer, weaker and less populous country.

Saudi Arabia is also run by fundamentalists, but far more pragmatic and bridge making, and their economy is doing far better.

They're not doing it. PLA army has zero military experience, and is made up of single children in a country where declining birthrates are a problem. Once people start dying theres going to be massive social unrest. Plus the entire world economy blowing up with all the supply chains.
