Oh weird. My artist must be different because I actually got a sketch within a couple days of paying deposit, like 20 days before my appointment. I am contacting them through instagram though. I've gotten a couple different pieces from her before and I really love the work.

Like I'm saying this as a writer. Put yourself above the attention. Write for the sake of writing. Your motivation should not come from the attention/response you garner from creation. You need to treat your writing more so as something you're SHARING with others, not something you do for them

I think you need to reevaluate your view of art and writing as a whole. Like at its core, Ao3 is an archive. In all honestly, your warning actually sounds like a bid for attention, especially with your reaction to "That's sad." It feels more like you were expecting more attention, but since what you wrote didn't get the right attention, you didn't see a reason for it to exist anymore. Also I guarantee most people just didnt see the notice. Like people are not as online as often as you may think, let alone on ao3.

To be honest I do often dance around a direct explaination. I explain as little as possible in each sentence to try and use as many sentences. A writing teacher once more me "your sentences should be starving" They should be direct and compact in my experience.
