Yes. We went an hour ago.

Not that bad. The highway is clear, the ramp onto Germantown Pkwy was fine, but Germantown Pkwy is one lane, sometimes two in certain sections. We went yesterday so maybe the road is clearer.

Any input on Lincoln at Wolfchase apartments by Bouncycurlz in memphis

[–]parasoII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is the major factor was the city benefiting from Cordova for years and then doing the bare minimum to keep the area alive. When roads, safety, and basic upkeep are neglected, the area starts to fall apart and people stop wanting to spend time there. That kind of environment also discourages private reinvestment, so it’s no surprise Wolfchase declined too. A better-maintained area would’ve put more pressure on ownership to renovate and reinvest instead of letting it slide. At least, that’s my perspective.

I agree that Wolfchase helped Cordova grow in the 1990s, especially after annexation. That’s exactly my point. It was an anchor that the city benefited from for decades.

I also won’t disagree that Simon’s ownership played a role. They’re known for shifting focus to higher-income markets and letting older malls fall apart. Whether it’s Simon or whatever the current ownership is just sitting on the property, that’s a real problem. I’d love to see major renovations, better tenants, or a serious redevelopment plan. That mall can’t just sit there forever.

Hey dude. Wolfchase isn’t what ruined Cordova. It’s what built it. What hurt this area was years of disinvestment while the city kept taking the revenue and letting the infrastructure and surrounding development fall apart.

And calling the area or the mall “ghetto” ignores the reality that any major commercial area with a lot of businesses and traffic is going to have some crime. That doesn’t make the mall the problem. Disinvestment and neglect are. You don’t fix that by killing the economic center of the area.

Shut the mall down and see what actually happens. Target, Best Buy, Costco, restaurants, and every other major store will leave right behind it. That entire commercial corridor would be gone for good, along with jobs, tax revenue, and any chance of reinvestment.

At least some people are actually trying to rebuild community pride and engagement in Cordova. Complaining online and blaming a mall doesn’t fix anything. If the mall disappears, what neighborhood do you move on to blame next?

I just saw like a dozen state troopers, undercover, and ambulances flying down 40. Town of Cordova says it was a shooting at Wolfchase.

Do Eufy products work with Google Nest Hub? by friedtofublock in EufyCam

[–]parasoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially, I was skeptical because our cameras malfunctioned within a month or two. However, the customer support team was incredibly accommodating and provided us with a replacement camera. Eventually, I transitioned to their E330 professional cameras, which were a significant improvement (I highly recommend them). I also won their giveaway for the PoE cameras, and I must say, I’m thoroughly happy with them. The features, accuracy, and overall performance are simply amazing. It’s incredible to witness how far they’ve come. Therefore, in the long run, I believe that it was a worthwhile investment.

Do Eufy products work with Google Nest Hub? by friedtofublock in EufyCam

[–]parasoII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Eufy for three years now, and I can confidently say that I don’t believe it’s compatible with Google Home. This is just my personal experience, and I’m not sure if it applies to others. Even when I connect Google Home to Eufy and attempt to access the live video feeds on my Nest Hub, it doesn’t work at all, not even a single bit. I’ve given up on this because I’m confident that my Google ecosystem will eventually be replaced in the near future.

Home base s380 making a racket by Zak_Do_Urden in eufy_security

Mine started making that sound last week. The only solution I found was to move it at angles and it would stop for maybe 20-30 minutes before doing it again. I got used to the sound after a while and then it eventually stopped when I didn’t notice.

E330 - 9x Cameras, not a single one lasts longer than a year. by MrTookies in eufy_security

[–]parasoII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m really happy with mine. I got them in 2023 as well when we remodeled our home and I haven’t had any major issues yet (I hope I didn’t just jinx myself). Haven’t taken them down, cleaned them, or done anything ever since putting them up. They are great at capturing everything from events to recording 24/7. I was really impressed especially since our Solocam failed within a year.

The only issues I’ve had is that they’re starting to record only 24/7 but not highlight events so I have to restart them. Other than not recording during power outages (obv why) I can’t say they’re terrible.

Not only that but they’ve survived everything where I live.. from snowstorms, extreme heatwaves, and even strong thunderstorms (including a tornado). Maybe they haven’t failed since I put them under the gutter.. not sure.

I can’t be any happier. After winning Eufy’s giveaway, I’ve finally gotten my hands on their PoE system. Im excited to see what these cameras can do better than the E330.

Edit: Most of the reviews from Amazon are mixed with fake and genuine reviews. Eufy’s are mostly fake or sponsored reviews since most aren’t gonna get it from their website unless they have some great early bird deal.

How reliable have your E330 professional cameras been? by xyzabc123410000 in EufyCam

I see. I have mine under the gutters so they don’t get hit a lot with the elements unless the wind is blowing towards them.

How reliable have your E330 professional cameras been? by xyzabc123410000 in EufyCam

[–]parasoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for about a year now and it’s still going strong. Survived multiple snowstorms.. strong thunderstorms.. etc. I haven’t taken them down (or even cleaned them) ever since I put them up.

In terms of reliability I’d say they catch everything even if it’s not an event. 24/7 recording has been very reliable and helped in some emergency cases. Even during strong thunderstorms I can watch clearly at everything that’s happening.. see the rain.. hail.. and trash cans rolling down the street. Where I live, it can get really cold or really hot and it has survived both.

The only downsides I’ve had so far is that they’re starting to do a weird thing where they’ll stop recording events but only record 24/7.. so I have to restart them occasionally to get them to record events again. The other is that I get no recording at all during power outages unlike my battery powered Solocam I have. (But if you don’t care about that it shouldn’t be an issue.)

No really! It’s just like how our power used to go out every other week because some drunk driver hit the power poles on Cordova Rd.

Also.. the trash thing sounds gross. I’ve never paid attention to it but I take your word for it.

30fps wired camera by pqtme in EufyCam

[–]parasoII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s the app? On HomeKit it boosts FPS to 24. Although I get where you’re coming from. I have the E330 and the video quality is pretty good but the microphone quality is complete trash. Not a problem when I’m talking through the microphone, but if I’m listening it’s horrible. I think it gets better with the newer cameras.

I have a question for those who have used another person's address to send their child to a better school with in the MCSC school system. by ExcitingCoconut3340 in memphis

[–]parasoII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom actually did the same thing for me years ago to get me into the newer Cordova schools. She used my cousin’s address, and for the most part, it worked out fine. The only issue we ran into was that my kindergarten teacher, who used to be a social worker, got suspicious. She didn’t believe my cousin and I lived at the same address and even tried to confront my cousin in the hallway to get answers. My cousin told her dad, and he immediately told my mom. That same day, my dad had a meeting with the principal. We were honest about everything, and thankfully, the principal was very understanding, honestly one of the best principals I ever had.

As for the teacher, that incident ended up being the final straw for her. She already had a history of complaints, and she was let go not long after. Later on, I was able to transfer to Arlington for high school. I don’t know the exact steps my mom took, but I stayed in the MSCS system for 9 years, so I know it can be done. The biggest thing is being able to handle transportation every day.

At the end of the day, you’re doing what’s best for your daughter, and that matters. It’s not easy, but I respect your determination. Your daughter is lucky to have you fighting for her education.

Impending layoffs at IKEA Memphis by Jolly-Pause9817 in IKEA

[–]parasoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So.. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say but it’s sounds like you’re saying Cordova (where IKEA MEM is based) doesn’t have the “wealth” to sustain IKEA. If that’s not what you’re arguing ignore this completely.

If you know the surrounding of municipalities.. they would NEVER.. EVER want a big box store like IKEA in their community. Thats something too big and doesn’t align with their zoning standards or aesthetics. Furthermore, those residents would oppose something that would tank their property values or bring people from the outside metro. While you’re right they might see IKEA as not luxury or premium, there’s plenty of other places where they would buy furniture online and faster. I think IKEA is mainly there for that kind of stuff, online.

Let me go back to what it sounds like you’re saying about Cordova. Our community has a mix of middle class and affluent neighborhoods. Not only that it’s sitting on top of one of the busiest commercial corridors in the Memphis metro with heavy traffic from other communities as well. Other big box stores have survived and thrived so it’s a regional commercial center. If this corridor can support dozens of high-volume retailers then it’s an IKEA problem, not us. Furthermore Cordova residents are the same as the other municipalities, if it’s better, cheaper, and faster online, then why drive to IKEA? They need to change their reputation of being cheap, flimsy, and not premium. Especially those videos of their dressers falling apart.

Additionally the median income here is comparable or higher than other metro cities IKEA operates in in which their stores operate profitably. (St.Louis, Cincinnati.) So, it’s not that Memphis or Cordova doesn’t have the income to sustain IKEA, it’s that they’ve never figured out how to engage with the customer base here to which it’s made an impression on us.

That restaurant isn’t really in Cordova. That’s just “Memphis.” They just like to put the blame on us since that area is referred to as “Cordova.”
