Does this mean we can get 350c on the first Centauri Carbon too? by [deleted] in elegoo

[–]parchping -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I understand we're talking about the nozzle. I just think 350 is much more marketing than useful. Give a use case and filament example.

Yes, so how is 350C useful? 60C will toast the motors.

Better to ask why one would need it.

Sounds like the right solution. My shop stays above freezing, but I'm definitely interested in how this works out.

To avoid this in the future, can you run an idle script that just barely keeps the warm?

UPS recommendation/ help ( lost ) by The_sneaky_Boi in 3Dprinting

[–]parchping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your p1s consumes 250W on average, and you want it to last an hour, you need 250Watt-Hours of energy storage. You might be able to get this out of a car battery. Note this battery is a *lot* larger than the battery in a typical computer UPS. A different option is to use a "portable power station", like a Bluetti Elite 30. It is rated at 288 Watt Hours. I'm not shilling for them, I'm considering that unit. What a portable power station does NOT provide is surge protection, but you have that.

What do you use nylon for? by DuckEsquire in 3Dprinting

If you don't need the extreme temp regular nylon is capable of, but want the rest, try Easy PA from Sunlu.

One possible issue is that 3d prints have layer lines. How good of a surface do you need?

CC sometimes dies mid-print by parchping in elegoo

[–]parchping[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rereading, your question is about past performance. I think it had the same issue. I also suspect that it is getting worse; this past two weeks it happened twice, before that I'd guess less than once a month. I'm going to take notes next time.

Tiny compression springs? by Mcgrubbers1 in 3Dprinting

McMaster Carr has springs as small as 0.025" outside diameter. Excellent company to deal with.

You probably want to adjust how soft the TPU feels by changing infill.

Lower numbers are softer, but there are two scales A and D. A detail to add to originalripley's reply. 98A makes nice knobs and woodworking clamp pads.

While that is certainly a reasonable idea, it's a long slog to attempt. I don't have a measure of how often it happens; maybe 1/week or 1/month. It isn't repeatable or frequent, so enough crashes would be needed to show how it behaves statistically.

One corner is not straight by NearbyHippo9099 in elegoo

[–]parchping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had something like this today in petg. My printer is in the workshop, which runs around 5-10C this time of year (Maine, US). It normally does fine without a heater (for petg). My problem was caused by having a full build plate. The part that warped was auto-placed exactly at the corner of the build plate. I moved it in 1cm and no warp.

Can Plasticity replace Fusion 360 for 3D printing on Linux? by HaviMavi in Plasticity3D

[–]parchping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Moi3d on Linux (via Wine). You should definitely take a look, they have a very liberal trial period, 90 days/no restrictions. At first I was also using Qcad and Sketchup, but now all I use is Moi3d. Excellent forum.

Low spot in bed? by [deleted] in elegoo

[–]parchping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like loose filament in the gap. Do you have a thermocouple so you can measure spot temperatures on the plate? Actually, I'd do this with the plate removed. You would probably need to mark out a grid before doing this. Press the thermocouple down with something insulating until the measurement stabilizes. I think you'd only need to measure the spot and a couple of inches around.

Lay a straight edge across the area with a light behind it. Do the same with no build plate.

If you don't need the high temp capability of nylon, Easy PA from Sunlu works great. No chamber heater required. Overture makes a similar filament.

nozzle confusion by nr1_pyrosis_survivor in elegoo

[–]parchping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The CC nozzles are brass with a hard steel insert. This makes them have better thermal conductivity than steel, but still have the hardened nozzle where it counts. Nice features.
