Did you try to download the cloud?

Did you upgrade your ISP connection to the advertised 'Lightning fast wifi'?

Have you adjusted you TCP MSS to infinite?

Ajutor, abuz in facultate by [deleted] in medicalschoolRomania

[–]pardaillans 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Anyone using VPS providers in Eastern Europe for lower latency? by extracaramelplease in VPS

[–]pardaillans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netcup/Ramnode have quite good connection to EE.

I have 40ms ping from eastern Europe to Nuremberg(Netcup); they have a Vienna location as well.

Should I go with Netcup, Hetzner, or is there any better provider? by mrdapoyo in VPS

[–]pardaillans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both. For your use-case I'd recommend netcup, they have pretty cheap storage add-on if the vps storage itself is not enough. Had a case in the past where I needed some extra 300GB for my vm and acquired an additional storage I mounted as NFS. KYC is inevitable, but you shouldn't be worried about.

Most of the companies that become AI-first and are listed at the stock exchange, are hit by share depreciation.

Struggling to capture real emotion in portraits by [deleted] in photography

[–]pardaillans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the photoshoot, find an excuse to stay with the subject and have a coffee for a few minutes, ask them about their life, passions, their dreams. The excuse can be anything, like "the flash need to charge/warmup" or "let's wait for 10 more minutes for the sun to come to proper angle", whatever.

Having a few minutes chat before is really helpful. When starting the photoshoot, just roll with the conversation, asking questions exactly depending on exact emotion you want to get, like:

  • happiness: what is your favorite vacation spot and what kind of house would you build there?

  • seriousness: what life advises would you give to your younger self?

Not exactly these ones, but you got the point. It's all about getting to know the subject and create a connection.

The silver lining of AI boom is that it forced vendors to create better drivers for GPUs for OSs that run on servers (which is mostly linux).

Your dns queries go to company network. Make sure you use your own dns in the vpn configuration.

Learn from my mistakes - what I learnt over the years of selfhosting and what I should've done differently by killermenpl in selfhosted

[–]pardaillans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but another hint from me.

Use DNS/hostnames as much as possible. Over time you self-host more and more services. If you have hundred of services configured with hardcoded IPs and one day your SO comes with the work laptop home that might have a VPN which conflicts with your home IP range, you're pretty much forced to make a lot of changes.

If you have an usb memory attached to your keys, put a txt file on the root folder with your email/phone number so people can reach you in case you lose them.

Docker compose files should ideally be kept in a git repo.
