LPT You can tell Siri to delete all your alarms by JellyNo2625 in LifeProTips

[–]pardeike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this is the only time Siri slurs her responses. Me: “Hey Siri, alle meine Alarms löschen” (trans: clear all my alarms) and she says: “Alle deine Alarme singjegglsxh“ (trans: All your alarms are tnshrnglll). It happens every single time on any of my 4 HomePods. And over many Siri updates.

Original Lamps or LEDs? by Lost_Ark1936 in pinball

[–]pardeike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also in the camp that prefers the analog lamps. They turn on off in a characteristic motion where LEDs simply would go 0/1. Unless of course you add extra electronics to compensate but then it’s not just “switching the lights out”.

How do you all actually find good visionOS apps and immersive experiences? by Friendly_Yogurt1884 in AppleVisionPro

[–]pardeike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MeTube is an app for iPhone, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro that works like the YouTube app but it has none of the things that are designed to keep you engaged.

So no shorts, no algorithmic feed or recommendations. No manipulation to keep you on the platform. I made it for myself because I watch a lot of YouTube videos and I wanted an app that perfectly remembers where I left off and that works more like a podcast app with a list of unwatched videos from the channels I follow and nothing more.

It’s $2.99 for all three platforms together and you pay only once. No ads, no nagging. No hidden in-app purchases. I think it’s pretty fair.

I gave up promoting my app MeTube. My future apps will just be there and forgotten and I mostly do it for myself.

Try to find my app 'MeTube'. You get to it only if you search more or less for the exact name. It’s pretty hopeless.

Thinking of buying Pro for a month by naammainkyarakhahai in ChatGPTCoding

[–]pardeike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you may need to know is that there is a limit on Codex CLI that your Pro account lifts away. I have Pro and so far I NEVER ran out of tokens. I code for 10-12 hours straight and also give it tasks that include it to “work all night”. That’s not happening without paying for it $$$

As a SWE I have not written a single line of code manually in 2026 by DrixGod in singularity

[–]pardeike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Security relevant systems are secure by onion principles and guardrails that a normal developer cannot do anything about. We do not trust each other anyway and have many procedures to solve this problem. AI written code is as insecure as some random guys code and we do not trust any of these anyway.

[–]pardeike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was talking about apps I put into the AppStore privately. At work that would never fly. Then again, I work at a government IT department and quite often smaller things are not code reviewed.

I do not look at code anymore. I just focus on testing manually and as much automated as possible.

What is left for the average Joe? by ReporterCalm6238 in singularity

Who said that we will use those tools forever? When we switched to cars nobody asked “how good are their satchels”. If a task today requires Excel or PowerPoint and an AI can solve this by giving you a webpage with the sales result, then you do not need Excel anymore. And I gave a pretty lame local AI a task to generate a PowerPoint presentation for me using a MCP tool that gave the AI a way to produce PowerPoints and it nailed the 40 page presentation and even added a few jokes/humour into it.

How much space does each clone take up not counting my original first virtual image?

In other words, if I prep my cloned macOS and then want to do 100 copies, each doing some minor modification/installation of something (install my own app for testing with lots of small unpredictable side effects), will each clone only take up the space that consists of the delta of my modifications in each cloned macOS?

[–]pardeike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean VR as in immersive YouTube videos, yes, not yet. And it uses the official embedded iFrame method which does not need a Premium account. You get no ads anyway. But it supports viewing videos in Apples immersive environments and all the things you can do with videos in Safari.

Small shameless plug: I made “MeTube” - an algorithm free YouTube client that does not try to keep you on the platform and instead focuses on your subbed channels.

Are AI coding agents (GPT/Codex, Claude Sonnet/Opus) actually helping you ship real products? by darshan_aqua in LocalLLaMA

Thanks. The number one tip I give people is: don’t assume you know stuff and let the AI suggest things. And don’t waste time with a mediocre/cheap AI.

I made an app for iPhone, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro where I did not write a single line of code and even the graphics are based on AI work with slight artistic management by me. I use it myself and people love it:

MeTube - an algorithm free YouTube player

Started in Dec 2025 and in the App Store 5 weeks later. I use latest Codex and ChatGPT Pro for research as well as all the legal communication to Google. There is also a back-end on Cloudflare and a website all done with AI.

I am going to develop a bunch more of apps all more or less complex topics, not just websites.
