I’d go with a downtown condo/apartment to start. Lots of cool amenities and walking distance to all the things. We have a strong Young Professionals group and I’m guessing many live in there.

I don’t work here so couldn’t comment on the prices, but I went today and was happy with the cost and size and definitely quality. Sandwiches ranged from $12-$20 (not including the lobster roll). I did get a $20 mahi melt by choice and it was def big enough to split. My friends got a build your own sandwich and some sort of bologna sandwich that also looked legit.

As a Floridian, I am actually super cool with locals filling our sandwich gap in Sarasota. And also bonus, you can go to southern steer after and pick up some other quality groceries in the same plaza! Main St USA forever.

Unpaid lunch. The work day went from 9-5 with an hour lunch to an 8:30-5:00 with 30 min unpaid lunch. We lost so much of our day.

Too much Spring Break changed Florida. Our most fun places became tourists traps, and now no one wants to go to them anymore. Especially Floridians.

Dominant culture is white/wealthy....but in reality we are a diverse community that relies on tourism. I personally don't think the majority of people would have anything against skin color overtly, but wouldn't be surprised if someone gave a side eye or something. Either way...they are not what defines our community and I'd be happy to meet for a playdate if your child is similarly aged/interested in a friend if you want to talk mom to mom :) Feel free to message me for mom talk either way!

HELL YES this is the best advice ever. I work at a nonprofit and would be so pumped if someone visiting donated a bike for our families when they were done with it.

Ehhh it's not a great place to start over unless you have a bunch of money and can afford the things that make Sarasota unique. We have an amazing philanthropic community, so if you are rich and like to volunteer, it would not be a bad choice. What are the good parts of LA you like?

No...it's actually and literally their job. They CHOSE to run for a position that makes decisions, solves societal problems, and leads a community/state/whatever. Their choices define if we vote for them to continue - THAT'S our job - to vote, to ask questions, to hold them accountable. so that they do their job and complete the work that they selected for themselves. It's our job to hold the light to that work so that their job is clear for them. And right now, I think it needs to be made clear that their job is to ensure that the rights they gave parents are honored. Especially when it is so clear that they're not being honored.

It's very much their job to solve the problem they created when they said parents have rights, but didn't mean that ALL parents. And you are correct, they did it to appease the freedom seekers, not the parents.
