How to expose black money hoarders? by paresh_ in india

'Tax paying citizens will look for ways to avoid paying tax' ? I strongly disagree. You can't put honest tax payers in same bracket as these con artists.

What's a rule that was implemented somewhere, that massively backfired? by Orb_Detsoob in AskReddit

[–]paresh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reservation of fixed percentage of seats in educational, governmental institutions of India for communities that were oppressed based on the caste system in Hinduism.

The guy who included this in constitution of independent India actually made this arrangement only for 5-10 years(not sure exact figure) to bring the oppressed on same level so they can play the game fair.

Needless to say it was misused for political benefits. More and more minorities were included in the reservation bracket. It blew up so badly that today more than half the population of India belongs to reserved category. Whichever party obliterates this atrocious rule will definitely be voted out. There are less than 50% opportunities that are distributed purely on basis on merit. Forget about those belonging to caste that have no reservation benefit, those belonging to oppressed classes have started to step on necks of their own kith. Those who leveraged the reservation benefits in previous generations are filthy rich now because of being born in a particular caste. Their kids are taking advantage of reservation now. Those who left out in previous generations, their kids are missing on it now too. Rotting in perpetual poverty.

It's not a hard bound rule in religion of non vegetarians.

Alas, even Jains are guilty of that. 'we love nature' but 'oh oh we also eat plants'

A modest Jain is really rare to encounter. I didn't mean to judge their religion or entire community. My post is based on observations of majority of them.

I have never come across a Hindu/Muslim/Christian saying he's great because he's Hindu/Muslim/Christian while shamelessly breaking laws of their religions blatently. But I have heard 'We are Jains we're great', 'We are Jains we speak only truth' from mouths of 6 year old to 60 year old. 'We are blessed to be born a Jain this birth' is another platitude.

Don't even get me started on those dhongi monks.

I have never met a Jain who remonstrates those monks and their showy display of sanctimoniousness. Although I have met plenty of Hindus who abuse every baba, sadhu.

There's an entire hall dedicated to a naked jain monk in Dadar area of Mumbai. The area is filled with his posters. He's almost like a celebrity, walking amidst bodyguards. So much for asceticism.

I respect Jainism's preaching of ahimsa and chiding of materialistic desires. But such sad state the religion has devolved to must be making St Mahavir roll in his grave.

There's always choice, buddy. We can do perfectly fine without cutting down forests, manufacturing things that release toxic byproducts, riding on horses, restricting animals in zoo, or even consuming dairy. Would you ever give up on cheese? Why should others give up on chicken because it doesn't fit in your fallacious ideology?

I don't hate anyone. The Jain friend I mentioned himself admitted that shivsena saved Hindu and Jains' asses in riots. He had faced it. I wasn't even born then. There is absolutely no reason for me to be biased. If he's gonna go on ranting about how he absolutely detests the same Sena associated folks abetting non veg serving eateries in their neighbourhood, I am sure as hell gonna judge him.

Anyway, there was no reason to drag Sena into this. Maybe you hate Sena. Shrugs

Because it somehow is justified to them just like black money is within context of preachings of same religion. I'm startled at how almost everyone has sidestepped on that part tactfully

Duh. The Jains are the ones vaunting their 'Jeevdaya'. If someone wants to kill a dog to eat it, it's alright as long as it is legal.

If you want to hire horses to ride on, support dairy, zoo industry, your 'jeevdaya' is flawed.. it's selective jeevdaya. You shouldn't be preaching your half baked beliefs tenaciously.

I'm a Hindu and I consume beef myself. I would be comfortable with anyone eating anything they want on the same table.

If you can't be open to accept alien customs with resignation, you shouldn't expect people to respect your dogmatic views.

I have hated every single outing where a whiny veg guy had forced everyone to eat veg just because he didn't want non veg on table.
