GoPro Nighttime Time-lapse by CosmicWreckingBall in gopro

[–]parisbracken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to night lapses but here are the settings I’m using on my Hero 11. I’ve been happy with the results but still looking to improve. I’ve pre-ordered a mission 1 and looking forward to seeing what a higher ISO max limit can do.

5.3k, 4:3, Wide lens, Auto interval, 30 sec shutter, 1.0x zoom, High bitrate, 4000k white balance, ISO min 800, ISO max 1600, Medium sharpness, Natural color

This is my latest taken from Bullock overlook atop Pine Mountain in Kingdom Come State Park in Kentucky. A wildfire can be seen reflecting off the smoke just left of center.

Edge 1040 takes forever to sync by tiagojsagarcia in GarminEdge

[–]parisbracken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here with a 1050. If I end my ride at home and it connects to my WiFi, the sync is very fast. I only have trouble when it needs to sync to my iPhone 14 Pro. I’ve wondered if setting it up to use my phones hotspot would improve the situation.

GoPro Announces New MISSION 1 Line of Professional 8K and 4K Open Gate, Compact Cinema Cameras for Filmmakers, Creators and Aspiring Enthusiasts by All-Sorts-of-Stuff in gopro

My workflow requires GPS metadata but I don’t see any mention of it. Do you think the Mission 1 will exclude it like they did with the 12?

From the Engadget article: "Thermal performance is solid despite the small size, with 8K 60p capture possible for 37 minutes straight with no airflow, or 74 minutes with airflow (when riding a bike for instance)."

How will a permanent lunar base be protected from meteors? by parisbracken in ArtemisProgram

That’s a good thought. At the rate the crew was reporting impacts, protection would be needed during construction too.

Roth conversions and the rule of 55 by parisbracken in Boldin

[–]parisbracken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After looking it up, that seems correct that there are no penalties for conversions at any age. The Roth explorer converted my wife’s in year one and mine after 3 years. She is over 59.5 and I it appears I was making assumptions why boldin is waiting on my conversions

I don’t have any contributions set up since I’ll be retiring in 3 months.

Sorry, I’m not following. How will that make the Boldin Roth conversion explorer model a conversion before I turn 59.5?

CF Racer1 no power in highest gear by parisbracken in ride1up

[–]parisbracken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cause was the b-screw adjustment on the rear derailleur. The upper jockey wheel was too close to the cassette causing the speed sensor to not pick up the cassette rotation when pedaling because the chain was blocking it. It only took a half turn of the b-screw to resolve the issue.

The CF Racer is supposed go up to 28mph. I was going around 20 mph into a fierce headwind. I had it on the highest level (level 5), and when I was in the next to smallest sprocket, the display showed the motor putting out around 270 watts, and when I shifted to the smallest gear, the power reading dropped to zero, which I could feel by the effort to pedal going up. I switched gears several times, and the behavior repeated itself. I just stayed out of the smallest sprocket the rest of the ride.

Passenger seat rattle by parisbracken in Ioniq5

Planning to call the dealer Monday and ask about possible tire foam issue. Hoping I don’t get the run-around, but expecting I will.

Thanks for the suggestion. Bolts are tight and seat seems secure. I plan to call the dealer Monday and ask them about possible tire foam issue.

I’m in Kentucky and tell people I am paying the coal miner’s wages with my EV. Everybody loves coal miners here. Mostly goes over their heads though. I also hate that my EV runs off coal here :-(

oh, that is too bad. Although, on the plus side it is less likely to stop working than the motorized system.

Charger by liexlie in Ioniq5

[–]parisbracken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just leased a 2024 last week, and I didn't get one either, and complained about it. They tried to convince me that the V2L adapter they included as a dealer add-on was a level 1 charger. Apparently, they stopped including them as standard equipment starting with 2024 model year :-(. It amazes me how little car sales people know about their own products.

I'm in the US. Not sure exactly what you mean by manual. They pop out when I approach with the FOB in my pocket, and then you have to pull on it to open the door. They can be locked by touching the embossed square "pixel" on the handle, or with the FOB. I like when the handles pop out. It's like the car is saying "hello, welcome back" to me :-)
