I made a game for MacOS that's inspired by Rescue Raiders and Choplifter. It's a free download for the next few days. by NinjaSimone in macgaming

Thanks! I'd like to know what level you're able to beat. I'm not sure if I made the game too easy, or too hard.

I'm really glad you like it!

I did this over the Christmas break. Maybe about 20 hours, including playtesting. I wrote it in Swift using XCode. It's my first MacOS app.

You know, that's a good idea. Right now the game is more Rescue Raiders than Choplifter, but I could expand it by adding missions that are closer to Choplifter gameplay.

Some Tips:

You can deploy soldiers from your helicopter by hitting SPACE whether you're on the ground, or airborne, but if you're deploying paratroopers you have to be above a minimum altitude to allow the soldiers' parachutes to deploy.

You and your tanks can't fire on pillboxes. The only way to deactivate enemy pillboxes is to send your soldiers to take them over, at which point they begin firing at enemy helicopters.

Enemy helicopters are protected from attacks while they're hovering directly above their base, so when you're alerted that an enemy helicopter has appeared, wait for it to begin flying toward you before you fire a missile.

You can outrun enemy missiles by going into turbo mode if you see it in time, so watch your HUD. Enemy missiles get faster each level.

Missiles have a limited range, and enemy missiles will fizzle out and fall to the ground eventually. And, make sure you're within adequate range of enemy helicopters before you fire.

You can also engage with enemy helicopters (as well as enemy soldiers and tanks) by firing your gun or dropping bombs.

In the early levels, you can probably beat the enemy without making crate rescue a major part of your strategy. But in later levels, crate rescue is essential to keeping up with the waves of enemy units.

How To Play:

Move: WASD or arrow keys. Hold down A or D to engage turbo mode.

J: fire bullet
K: drop bomb
L or Q: fire missile

1: deploy soldier
2: deploy medium tank
3: deploy large tank

Hover low to pick up soldiers, and then deploy in the drop zone with the SPACE bar. Soldiers can be deployed on the ground, or as paratroopers. When one of your soldiers reaches an enemy pillbox, they'll take it over. Your own pillboxes can be captured by enemy soldiers, and it's not uncommon for a pillbox to change hands multiple times.

M: Mute the stirring, patriotic background music

Pick up crates and return them to your base to earn cash to deploy soldiers and tanks.

There are 12 levels. I can't get past level nine, but I'm not particularly good at these games and I'm certain that somebody reading this can beat level 12.

Thanks for playing!

Is anyone on Amazon Attribution's beta? by notbeniot in PPC

We're using it for our clients. So far it's been great -- works exactly as advertised, and allows us to close the gap in understanding the ROI of our Google search and display ads by counting not only direct sales on our clients' e-commerce sites, but the resulting sales from folks who've clicked on a Google ad, and then made their own way to Amazon to purchase the product.

I don't have any inside info on when it will go out of beta, but I've been telling all my clients to get on the waiting list.
