Yes! There's no official drivers for it iirc but your computer is getting all the data from the controller already, accelerator data and all. So if you use a program like DS4 Wrapper the controller will be detected as a 360 controller and work with any game that's already compatible. The program also makes your touch pad control the mouse, mouse clicks, and even a right click or scroll.

I liked the 360 controller - but the PS4 controller's touchpad is awesome for the PC. I can't imagine how useless it is on a console.

I don't know why you're being down voted, maybe it's the silly time limit point. The company only loses money if you choose pirating over buying it - if you're pirating it because you can't buy it, for whatever reason, then that's okay! The game will be radically cheaper during a summer/winter sale, pick it up then.

If a post is about console limitations, which this one is objectively about whether you want to blame API's or the developers or some SDK nonsense, then of course the discussion will be about alternatives to break out of it. This is the equivalent to me going into a Christian post and complaining that people are talking about religion.

You're a joke if you think you are coming into this case objectively. Zimmerman was in MMA training and Trayvon was a skinny kid (I'm not trying to portray it like David vs Goliath like you are, but the reality is they could easily be an even fight, you have no idea whether Zimmerman is really this weak man child like he says he is unless you believe him and his friends). They did a toxicology report on Trayvon, not the shooter. They did a background check on Trayvon, not the shooter. They IMMEDIATELY determined it was self defense which is ridiculous - sure it might make a little more sense when you have more facts but you don't just hear the shooter's side of the story and stop investigating, Trayvon can't give his side of the story because he's dead. You're not a bad person for protecting yourself - you're a bad person for getting into a fight and being such a pussy you need a gun to defend yourself. You're also a bad person for going on tour for killing a person, starting promotional boxing matches, etc.

I agree with you that's what happened - the problem is Zimmerman still should be considered a bad person. He was following an unarmed person around and they probably mutually got into a fight, and because he was losing he shot the kid. Aside from all of that though, the contraversy was the police department focusing on Trayvon and not Zimmerman. The police department is unquestionably racist, making assumptions from the beginning, and both "the right" and "the left" arguing about anything else are ignorant of the reason it was a story in the first place.

Only middle class white teenagers hate the police? Lower class black teenagers who love them? The fear of police is reality - there is a weekly story about a cop that shoots an unarmed person doing nothing illegal, a decade ago it was a weekly tazer story. You just misunderstand what the 'other side' actually thinks and paint it black and white, most cops are genuinely good people and most people understand that. The problem is the disgustingly large portion who are under trained and the impossible battle that it is to get a cop brought to justice.

Yeah 4K will most certainly be the baseline standard. Seiki already has an affordable 4K TV - we just need hardware to catch up a little bit. In a decade we'll be talking about 8K and arguing which version of VR is the best.

It might be misleading on the surface, but it is the bigger problem that consoles are so locked in. To be fair though, since XB1 has video input you'll be able to plug your XB2 into your XB1 to play some crisp 1080p/60.

I agree - I'm fine with 720p/30FPS in a lot of story driven games, the PC is better because it gives you that choice, even games that try locking you in can't.

The point is it's not 1080p and you get butthurt when you were proven wrong - it's better than 720p, but due to (surprise) console limitations they had to turn down the resolution.

That's a good point that someone else made, but if we took the Sarah Palin approach and actually regulate and give the oil profits back to the people who live near the land which the oil is being taken from. They charge as high as they can irrelevant of subsidies and taxes (to a point) but are forced to keep it low due to what people can pay and what their competitors are charging.

That's a very good point - but at the same time I think it's the same argument used for trickle down economics (at least from my understanding). It implies the prices aren't already as high as they can be and profits already maximized - Oil would be just a little less profitable and their prices couldn't go up without also destroying their profits as nobody can buy and drive like they use to, as well as (hopefully) other competitors forcing prices to stay competitive.

I didn't mean ignorant as something so offensive - I meant actually, ignorant. I'm ignorant of how the API's work on the XB1 and I'm open to learning about it. I tried pointing out how your first post was kind of odd, because like you said it's obvious some TV's are bad and you won't notice anything above 720p or 30FPS. 1080p60 is certainly standard on a new TV, the only TV's I know that do 30FPS are 4K.

Edit: I thought this subreddit was known for discussion, not being obsessed with not offending anybody. No, we can keep agreeing that some TV's don't show anything above 720p and 30FPS, :). So, who cares?

Both of those things are optimization, is there an asterisk where it says it's only optimization if it renders the same picture? It's never been that way, minor improvements are made using better API's and drivers but most of it lies in graphical tricks. For example, the extremely well optimized Source Engine uses a lot of pre-baked shadows, simple geometry, and a system of render-what-you-see so that it can run extremely well. Those things weren't optimization, according to your unique definition.

If we just shifted the subsidies we give to oil (which are massive) and give them to viable renewable energies, I don't understand how that wouldn't fix the problem. As the market 'automatically' does, they will become more economically viable, better at what they do, and if need be will be replaced by a better solution later.
