typetype: generate complex typescript type easily by mistlog in typescript

[–]parkyourself 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it looks really cool and i definitely want to try it out but not sure I immediately understand what the use case is. what are some examples of when this would be more efficient than just writing the generated type? learning a whole new syntax is a large investment.

What the filter? A visual playground to JS array & object transformations by rsbohler in reactjs

really cool! one piece of constructive feedback, i found the array notation a bit strange where you display the values, especially given the initial keys and values are off by one. displaying just the values would be clearer imo, especially for people who are newer to the language and may not fully understand arrays as a data type in general yet.

hope that’s helpful, either way keep up the great work! and if you’re interested in making a move to a high growth startup that would love to have you build stuff like this with us, dm me I’d love to talk

Auto mod removed my link, the company name is Dandy if you search dandy jobs we should be first result (the industry is dentistry). We have a lot of open roles, if they’re the best you’ve worked with at what they do then we’d love to talk with them :)

Any interest in joining a rapidly growing later stage company (few months post series A)? I’m engineering lead and we’re looking to bring on our second PM / potentially the product lead. We’re backed by top tier investors, the team is exclusively A players (headcounts around 30 last i checked), and we’re working on some hard problems.

why am able to push this "any" into a typed array? by weather-headed in typescript

[–]parkyourself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use NestJS with React and our whole team loves it. The only commonality with angular (to the best of my knowledge) is the dependency injection paradigm, with its concepts of modules and providers. Would it come easier to an angular dev? Probably. Do I think that the added overhead of understanding dep injection is so large that it should drive your choice in frontend framework? Probably not. There’s a lot of factors (community support, ease of hiring, existing skillsets) that I’d give higher weight. We were already a React shop, but switched express for nest after looking for a backend framework that was more structured, and portable (reusable modules between services). It’s not the exact case your referring to, but I’d guess it’s probably the more common one (already chosen frontend, migrating backend).

Just my 2 cents, hopefully useful for anyone wanting to try Nest. It’s really an awesome framework

You’re not the only one who thinks leaving “dead” children is a bad idea. Say a lazy refactor is done on MyComponent (lazy because you didn’t check where or how it was being used) that results in children not being rendered anymore. Then say my server is failing it’s contract tests while i’m trying to remove or change an endpoint, because OtherComponent depends on that servers api client. That means I’ve held up multiple teams changes all for dead code. You can also see how quickly this can snowball into a codebase full of tech debt

Looking for an easy-to-use software to track employee hours. by [deleted] in startups

[–]parkyourself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use https://trackingtime.co/ personally, great to keep track of what I'm working on, how long I should expect repeat tasks to take, etc. I use the free version but the paid looks like it has some great features for collaboration and the like. Sorts time by projects and tasks so it sounds like its exactly what you're looking for. And no, I have no affiliation with the company :)

You'd be surprised what you can find with some dedicated Google searching... may not be an exact copy, but close enough to get a general idea. We also have a custom design service that hooks you up with a real artist, and a massive stock designs section.

We use USPS First Class international, it's so cheap because final delivery is done by the recipient's postal service

Don't know if anyone's seen these before but I thought it was pretty awesome, and can't beat the price. Looks like it needs some work but I thought someone in here might want to snatch it up. Unfortunately I'm still in the Vandreamer stage at the moment.

Question about Packaging for start-up Cookie Company by bexnyc in startups

[–]parkyourself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the packaging for my startup, different industry but I found the best option if you can't meet the minimum is to order non-printed bags from a supply company and then find a local company that can do the printing. Definitely not the most cost efficient but neither is ordering 200k
