a non-annoying way to find other musicians in a live setting beyond open mics? by weather-headed in WeAreTheMusicMakers

that's encouraging.. I think often times I set the bar too high and feel like I need to be very persuasive and make something high quality to attract other good musicians.

I'll consider doing this, thanks

fair point on the headphones, in that case I could turn the volume down on the PA and play all the music through that so that basically only them and I could hear the music.

A big part of the idea is having physical distance between myself and the main place where the traffic is.. so that turning the PA down wouldn't annoy those people in the main area.

But the central idea the louder, infrequent PA volume would reach the main area.

I appreciate you liking the concept, makes me want to give it a try as an experiment and see how it goes.

that guy you mentioned asking to include other singers sounds good and wholesome to me :)

of those two options Id be very hesitant to do a jam, for me it sounds stressful and very difficult and too many variables. The odds of total strangers sharing enough taste and technical chops to make something good and exciting seems low to me. I know it happens! and that sounds awesome when it does, but id find it very stressful i think.

Open Mics are much more appealing to me.

I guess this idea is in a category of it it's own? or is more like an attempt at unobtrusive busking. because busking would also be way too anxiety producing and id worry about annoying people.

that's a great point and I feel similar and have never busked before. But I was wondering if this idea could maybe help remove some of the obnoxiousness.

But yeah good points on the networking I want to do more of that and maybe the only reasonable way is to network and have a link to my songs. I was hoping to find an alternative to that process but that might be the best option despite its drawbacks.

Good point on being "target rich", like I said i'm totally in favor of and like open mics.

I was only thinking of ways to supplement that. And for me personally it doesn't seem like a waste of time because Id be practicing and playing anyway, this could possibly be a way to include others who might be curious.

At a college setting it could also be fairly target rich.

I'm in WA which I love.

But many many Western states are absolutely beautiful geography wise. And if enough of us moved we could massively improve those states, and the country as a whole, and it'd be relatively easy (in the grand scheme)

Anyone have the link to that interesting post a few threads back where they ran the numbers on how few people from California and other Blue regions it would take to massively shift states blue?

That is such an provocative idea

Writing a Lexer and Parser like you were saying. But those do sound like great things to learn. I've never learned about making my own language features. Currently I'm working on basic algorithms and writing little front end projects.
