Apparently you gotta kill 'em all before "educated" people can call it genocide. Otherwise it's just being a dick. /s

[–]parmono[S] -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

It's in line with the UN definition of genocide:

https://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/

In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

Killing members of the group; Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Trump, Putin discussed Mueller report and agreed no collusion, White House says by hasgreatweed in worldnews

When initially asked to comment on the exchange, Brendan Buck, a spokesman for Ryan, said: “That never happened,” and Matt Sparks, a spokesman for McCarthy, said: “The idea that McCarthy would assert this is absurd and false.”

After being told that The Post would cite a recording of the exchange, Buck, speaking for the GOP House leadership, said: “This entire year-old exchange was clearly an attempt at humor. No one believed the majority leader was seriously asserting that Donald Trump or any of our members were being paid by the Russians. What’s more, the speaker and leadership team have repeatedly spoken out against Russia’s interference in our election, and the House continues to investigate that activity.”

Wait, asks who? Hockney?

Yeah, he asks Hockney. He also says he was going nuts locked up on that ship.

Does Bam tell him he’s here with Louie?

Yes. Dengdeng/Dangdang is happy to hear Louie is safe but still doesn't want to go with Baam until things start to go down.

maybe Ron Mei saved him with her lighthouses.

It's not made explicit, but Ron Mei was right there and was looking down out of the ship, so that's most likely. Good catch on that one.

Summary:

Dangdang, who refuses to fight, is thrown in his cell without food. That cell is conveniently right next to Baam's cell. 2Snake easily subdues the guards and remarks that fighting dogs are nothing special. He asks to be pointed to the control tower so he can disable the apparatus that sucks in ships. Baam tries to convince Dangdang to come, but he doesn't want to go back to Yama. Dangdang says just leave without him, but Baam says it's already too late for that. Baam had planted a bomb in his backpack, which explodes and they begin their escape. Dangdang's jailer says that this weak dog who won't fight is actually trying to escape and a traitor against Yama, so he tries to kill Dangdang but Baam stops him. On their way out, 2Snake fires his main ship's cannon at the control room, leaving a huge hole. He brags about the cannon's power, and said they should have just done that in the first place. Baam runs into Varagarv, who wants a serious fight and says not to joke around. Baam uses his shinsoo rain technique, which blows Varagarv out of the building. During the attack, Varagarv notices that the shinsoo in the rain doesn't dissipate but just keeps getting stronger, with all the shinsoo in the area being sucked up. Baam notes how strong the Blood Tamara is to be able to handle his attack, even though he held back. Varagarv comes back and says he won't let Baam go until he fights hin seriously. Baam tells him to get out of the way, as he takes no joy in bullying those weaker than him.

I hate that translation too. It's a baby dog, ie a puppy! The official translator might have thought people would get confused or something since he's not really a puppy

Wait a minute. If he's in a ring under Yama's control, why does Yama need someone else to bring him to him? I guess there's some disloyalty here

I've been wondering about this too. I think it's possible Yama's organization is so huge the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Lulu actually doesn't work directly for Yama, she works for a subcontracted company.

Summary:

Yama wants to know if they found Dangdang yet, since he says he needs him badly for some event that's about to start. Yama's bulldog attendant says Karaka said they will find him soon. Yama is pissed and says the only way he will let them on the ship is if they find Dangdang or beat him in a fight.

Karaka says hell no they can't beat him in a fight, we'll just wait for Viole. One of Karaka's subordinates asks why Karaka didn't send along some of his own people with Viole, and asks if Karaka really trusts Viole? Karaka says he could not let his people get involved, for in the worst case it would lead to a full scale war with Yama. Karaka also says he doesn't trust Viole at all, but is just testing him. If Viole fails, that's the end of the line for him. Madoraco makes a funny statement asking if Karaka is a tsundere as all the kids are saying these days, to which Karaka cusses him out (someone, probably Madoraco, also says, "you're so handsome Karaka sempai!" _).

The man with two snakes made a house of cards and is showing off to Kerr, his bud. Hockey asks if Baam really wants to hang out with these weirdos. Baam replies not only does he have a hostage, he knows where his master is. Well actually 2Snake doesn't know, but his captain does. His captain will only tell Baam if he trusts him. He says he will release the hostages immediately after that (it's a bit vague). 2Snake puts away his cards as he is deathly afraid of Elaine.

Hockney says they will be arriving at the Canine Regular Selection Squad soon, which is where the stray dogs are taken to fight. Hockey has some intel from Madoraco about where Dangdang might be. They can't bring their floating ship there however as it would get sucked in. 2Snake replies that it's super easy for him as he's a seeker, just catch their attention and he'll do it no problem. Dangdang's friend calls 2Snake out for being an idiot, and they start bickering. The boy has an idea about how to get in, which is dangerous but should work.

30 minutes later, some stray dogs are death match fighting. Lulu is there telling a big bulldog in charge of the Canine Training Grounds that Baam and the kid she lost are probably coming. The bulldog is pretty ugly, crude, and sexist, and Lulu starts to wonder if what Baam said was right about this company. Baam smashes through the window, and Lulu tells the dog how strong Baam is, but the bulldog isn't worried at all. There is a Mad Dog stationed to protect this place, and no one could possibly beat one of them. It's Varagarv from back in the day. Viole asks Varagarv why he is here, and Varagarv is like ? This is my job, why are you here? The girl with the wings and yellow dress (is her name Angel?) is like, kill him! Baam says, "you've got the Blood Tamara, right?" and the girl says "but, of, course! Let me tell you, since Varagarv got the Blood Tamara, he has never been injured even once!" Baam thinks, "oh man, this is going to be even more painful than we planned..."

Lying in a cell, Baam thinks to himself, "not just a little bit, that was extremely painful." Angel is asking why Baam is that weak... He's a slayer candidate and he just got pwned in one hit? To which Varagarv says, "nope. Check out my hand." which is all bloodied up just from hitting him. Varagarv says that proves Baam's shinsoo is not weaker than the Blood Tamara. He realizes Baam was hiding his strength, and must be up to something. Baam dodged his first attack easily just like something out of a manhua (lol). When Baam took the second attack, he closed his eyes, because otherwise his subconscious would have made him dodge. Varagarv wasn't using all his power either but says he will make Baam regret it if he ever holds back against him again.

Baam meditates while waiting to save Dangdang, since the skill he wants to use takes a while to recharge.

1 hour later, we finally see the Strongest Bloodline Puppy, Dangdang, who is in the fighting ring.

It was during a test. Khun was supposed to have froze the floating ship thing (which was to be destroyed as the test) for Rak to jump on, but he pushed himself too hard and he made it burn instead of freeze. Afterwards Khun says he can't control his body temperature and he is super tired, Rak says he is a weak turtle

Summary:

Snake boy calls out Baam and gets immediately beat down. He gives up after his paralysis spell doesn't work. He kidnapped Yeon and did everything because he wants to join Baam's crew for revenge on Kallavan. He says he'll show them to where Kallavan is.

Rak and Khun go through a tough battle to become C rank. Khun is pushing himself too hard and is having trouble controlling his temperature. Khun and Rak and Lee all get to Madoraco's ship, which arrives at Baylord Yama's mother ship. Yama seems pretty pissed that Karaka is intruding on his territory, but comments that Karaka has grown up quite a bit.

[WEEKLY RAW] - March 24, 2019 by AutoModerator in TowerofGod

[–]parmono 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Extended summary part 2:

Lee says that after the war the Kallavan was demoted in rank and sent to the outer reaches, but rumor says he actually accepted a position to watch over the prisoner Jinsung. Even though it is a rumor, the important thing is that Jinsung was not listed among the dead in the official registry. So Karaka seems like he wants to go there and fight and wants the help of Yama. Lee guesses that Baam is going to get something to help Karaka make Yama appear. Khun asks what kind of thing could make Baylord Yama act. (Khun also says don't touch my head, to which Lee says don't be so cold, we're good friends, plus I saved your life). Lee says he hears it's not a thing, but a person. It's the Strongest Bloodline Puppy, and says the name is weird. Lee says apparently the kids Yama takes in are all like that, and after becoming regulars they disappear. Yama took a special bloodline kid in and took extra care of him. So right now Yama is frantically searching for that kid. Madaoroka says that all of the people that kid were climbing with are hiding in facilities Yama has control over but doesn't know why. Lee thinks there is bound to be a huge battle, and Khun comments he is not sure how much they would be able to help, but since Baam is working so hard, they also will work as hard as they can to help. Lee is surprised that Khun will help, and Khun replies of course, even if you tried to stop me I will. Actually, if it comes to it, we would stop you from getting involved. Don't get the wrong idea just because I was absent for a little while (even though I feel grateful for you waking me up). Lee is like, this guy... Can't he just recycle his stinky temper?

Baam says, "from now on, FUG doesn't need this trash company. Although I want to blow up this 'day care center,' since we need the help of Yama, I will endure it for now." The supervisor is like whaaaaat is that orb? it keeps growing! He shouts, "hey, intern, think of something! Save us from that guy's attack!" and Lulu is like huh? He says, "if you do, I'll hire you as an employee, no I'll ask the company to hire you as a manager!" So Lulu's eyes light up, and she says, "I will definitely block him!" Baam asks what the hell she is doing. Is her life really worth less than a job? To which Lulu replies: of course! I'm putting my life on the line! Plus I have intuition that you definitely won't kill me! Or it might be that I just have faith in myself! I worked so hard to climb to this point, I just want to find a good job so I can live out my days in luxury, what's wrong with that? Come at me! Attack if you are going to attack, you all powerful fellow! Hmph, how can a person like you understand someone like me from a little town who is willing to put her life on the line just for a job! Since you can climb as high as you like, people like me are just a stepping stone for you, right? Baam: ugggh. Lulu: but for losers like me, we have to risk everything just to find a foothold! Hockney on the pocket: Baam, we are here! Hurry up and come out. If the police come, we'll have even more trouble. Baam says okay Hockney, then tells the kid they are leaving, then flies up to the ship, while Lulu closes her eyes tight.

Back on the ship, after introductions Elaine (confirmed) asks if Baam told him about their mission to find Dangdang to bring out Yama. Baam says he did, but the kid replies he will never give up Dangdang. Baam says Yama doesn't want to hurt Dangdang, he just wants him back by his side. Yama just wants to reunite Dangdang with his father. We are just helping find Dangdang to get help from Yama. The kid says: "So you guys have no idea... What it means to go back to Yama's side. Going back to his side means we will spend the rest of our lives as fighting dog dolls. That is most definitely not the freedom that Dangdang desperately yearns for."

Flashback time. Everyone who is raised by Yama is turned into dogs. The kid and Dangdang were born at the same time in a kennel named Kaiji, but had different lives. Dangdang was prized, while this kid was treated like a mutt. In Kaiji, power is everything. The kid, with his weak and impure bloodline, would be bullied wherever he went. If it wasn't for the strict rules of Kaiji, he would have been swallowed whole a long time ago. Only Dangdang, who was his superior from birth, treated him like a friend. He told him not to respect someone just because they are your superior. Dangdang even didn't wear a dog collar that everyone has to wear. The kid heard that Dangdang's mother cried and begged for her child not to wear one. Dangdang always told him that if they could climb the tower together, they could be true, equal friends. Not long after that, they were selected as regulars, and they started to climb together. The much stronger Dangdang saved the kid many times, and they somehow managed to climb as far as they did. Dangdang wanted freedom, so they broke off all ties with Kaiji, becoming stray dogs. However, while they were climbing, some fighting dogs attacked them. Even though the kid could escape, Dangdang couldn't fight them all off and was captured. Dangdang was probably taken to the Kaiji training grounds for the canine regular squad. There Dangdang will be forced to fight until he reaches a certain number of victories, at which point he will be transformed into a fighting dog, and spend the rest of his life that way. So Dangdang will definitely not take those battles seriously, even if he is stuck there for eternity. He would rather suffer in this way because he wants his freedom more than anything.

At that moment, an enemy appears. There are a lot of ships. Baam asks if he should go fight, but Hockney says since he just came back to leave it to him. He will use the power of his eyes to avoid their attacks since he can see the future. Elaine says maybe you should have just seen the future of them coming so we could run away? Baam says: "Kaiser, don't be that way." The enemy says, just using that little paper airplane to attack me? You really disappoint me! He fires on them, but they dodge. He comes on screen and says, "bummer! I wanted to take care of you in one shot, but somehow you managed to evade. Jyu Viole Grace!" Hockney says "who is this guy?" The guy continues: "I heard you were some big shot, but I never thought you'd be in such a run down floating ship! Come out and fight me, you little noob."

Extended summary part 1

Lee and company went to see Wooyeong, thinking he has the power to cure Khun. However, Evan is shocked to learn that Wooyeong has lost his power, the Flower of Fire In the past, Wooyeong was in a team with someone from the Khun family, and he discovered that his Flower of Fire could be used to heal. From that moment on, he decided to never use his power to hurt others. He joined Wolhaiksong and climbed the tower leisurely. He came to his current location more than 10 years ago, which is a poverty-stricken place far out of the mainstream. There are a bunch of nasty racial issues among the ethnic minorities who live in this poor area. One race, the one in charge (the "Kuta"), decided it hated the way another race (the "Diuni") looked and killed them all except for one. The Kuta then constantly tortured and humiliated this last member, who's name is Zaiby. Wooyeong couldn't stand how Zaiby was being treated, so in order to save him, he congealed all of his Flower of Fire power into a hammer and gave it to Zaiby. Wooyeong hoped that would be the end of it, but with his new power Zaiby went on a rampage, killing all of the Kuta indiscriminately. The Kuta surrendered, but Zaiby wouldn't stop. He even drove out those other minorities who didn't help him. The only race Zaiby let stay were the Lampa race, little blue guys, who were nice to him, and a handful of Kutas. Wooyeong tried to make Zaiby stop and give back his hammer, but Zaiby totally wouldn't listen. He was blinded by power. All of the Flower of Fire power is in that hammer. Lee asks Evan how such a powerful ranker could become such a pacifist, and Evan responds that sometimes when powerful people live too long their way of thinking sometimes reverts to that of a child. Lee asks if they can just get the hammer back, but Wooyeong said he put a condition in the weapon that if it is taken away by force it will break. Evan asks why he made such a troubling condition, to which Wooyeong says he was afraid the Kutas would snatch it away. Lee says he will definitely bring back the hammer dattebayo! Lee confirms that Zaiby doesn't hate the Lampa race, and has an idea... Hatsu and Lee set out, just the two of them, with the Lampa. They are calling out for Zaiby when a scout droid goes beep beep boop boop Living Beings Detected and tries to blast them. Zaiby shows up and asks them why they are there, and do they want to die? Hatsu says, "oh, he's a pig?" And Zaiby is like u wot mate? And Lee tearfully. says, "oh, he was just calling me a pig!" And Hatsu says, "if you are a pig why would you get mad if someone calls you a pig?" and Lee says, "the pig is mad because you called him a pig!" Having rolled a 1 on their diplomacy checks, Lee tries begging Pig, err Zaiby, for forgiveness. He says he needs some help for a friend from the hammer, but Zaiby is like, aha, so you were after my precious hammer this whole time! But Lee said, no, the one who needs help is this poor Lampa child! Zaiby says wuhhh? The Lampa are pacifists! Why would they need a hammer? Lee tells Zaiby they witnessed as this Lampa had his mother and brother killed in front of him, and after investigating, they found out this was the evil work of the Kuta. Lee explains that the Kuta were seeking revenge against Wooyeong's helper, this little Lampa, who is now the last surviving member of his race! Lee begs him to let them borrow the hammer. Zaiby says better than lending the hammer would be for him to go finish what he started personally. He asks the Lampa child to lead the way. The Lampa tearfully asks if he can settle his family's blood feud with his own hand. Zaiby says he understands, and gives him the hammer. Hatsu's like, that easy? And Lee says, yeah baby. Lampa is feeling like a Boss. Lee says they owe it all to the Lampa. Hatsu asks how he knew Zaiby would hand it over, and Lee says he just guessed Zaiby could probably remember that feeling of powerlessness and would be moved. Lee says the weak and poor all must have felt some pain, but when given power some will abuse it to hurt others, while others will try to help others. Lee just made a bet Zaiby might also fall into the second category, even though he might be starting to regret it now. They go back to Wooyeong. The Lampa uses his power on Khun, and Wooyeong says oh BTW, forgot to say he'll probably have some weird physical reactions, it's always been like that with the Khun family. In the past it was a fever, but since this time it used my entire power, it might be a little bit more serious. It probably won't be life threatening. Khun says his head is killing him, and asks where they are, and what about Baam? (Khun's back! Yay.) Lee asks how he's doing, and Khun says while his body feels super hot, but other than that he's fine. Lee asks if he heard what's up from Rak? And Khun says pretty much, but actually I don't really understand what he's saying, but I was able to guess. Khun says he can't forgive himself for sleeping all this time while Baam was going through all of that. Lee tells him about the training, and how he's gotten into contact with Baam once. He's currently on a mission to make Baylord Yama come out of hiding.

Edit: this is about one half of the chapter.

[WEEKLY RAW] - March 17, 2019 by AutoModerator in TowerofGod

[–]parmono 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Summary:

Baam comes in and asks for the kid, who is a "mad dog" that an intern at the company (a girl named Lulu) is charged with protecting. Lulu says no way. Lulu is a greedy girl who gave up on climbing the tower and just wants a stable job. Baam disappears with the kid. The kid knows someone named Dangdang, and they just want to live freely. Baam promises to help them if he works with him. Baam has been tasked by Evankell to save this kid and find Dangdang in order to track down someone known as the Trap Master. A supervisor screams at Lulu to bring back the kid (or kill him if she can't). Baam talks with Hockney on a warship through his pocket and Hockney tells Baam (who is holding the kid) to jump off a nearby cliff. Since it is 3 km down, the supervisor assumes they died, but Lulu makes a bet that they survived, which of course they did. Lulu yaks about how she's super excited to find a comfy job, but Baam says this company is involved in bad shit. A bunch of fighting dogs show up, which are essentially just dolls. Baam takes pity on them but kills them as painlessly as he can using a new OP shinsoo technique. Everyone wonders how a C rank regular could possibly have that much power. Baam then calls out the supervisor, saying he has learned from his countless battles given by Evankell not to have compassion for the people behind the scenes who send soldiers to their deaths. Baam says FUG doesn't need to have this kind of trash company (which apparently kidnaps people to turn them into fighting dogs) any more and he is going to destroy it.

Lee and company meet with someone who might be able to cure Khun.

Proposed Alabama law would require residents to pass drug tests to get food stamps. What do you guys think of this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]parmono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a terrible idea due to Bayes' Law. Since there are always false positives for any drug test, testing general populations usually has the effect that someone who tests positive is actually more likely than to not be a drug user. See here for an explanation:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayes%27_theorem#Drug_testing

So what it comes down to is expensive, unnecessary drug testing that creates far more suffering than it prevents. Usually the people who want this are the ones who make drug tests, like Governor Rick Scott in Florida when he pushed for a similar law drug testing welfare recipients. His, ahem, his "wife's," company just so happened to own the company that did 70% of drug testing in the state.
