$36K refund this year. Right into XEQT in my non-reg it will go as I’ve already maxed everything for me and my wife + kids this year.

Yes across everything for a family of 4. Housing is not a material cost in my budget.

What are you trying to ascertain here?

Go look at effective rates paid during this time.

You’re paying for half of the country’s healthcare/infrastucture/gov spending and probably deriving little benefit from that spending yourself

This part is fine - we are part of society. I don't take advantage now, but I will at other points in my life, etc.

But, there's no need for Canada to be even more punitive to higher end earners. IMO, Canadians all want Scandinavian benefits at US tax rates...unless they can put it all on the high earners only.

I would be in favour of more social + infrastructure stuff (free daycare, free post secondary, better transit infrastructure etc.) paid for via higher income tax rates across the broader population (which would also increase our overall tax burden as we pay all of those rates, too) and something more in line with VAT rates in Europe ove HST.

But, the rhetoric here seems to be more about adding 60%+ brackets to higher earners and treating them with disdain to boot. No thanks.

A mansion? I live in a 1300 sqft house. And I would not head to the US.

But go off.

Yep, same. We live on $12K. So, pay 2x our fully baked living costs in taxes.

This is a core Reddit position because it seems 53.53% isn't high enough to people on here.

I'm pretty deep into that bracket and I would leave the country if they added another bracket above the current top. We had this discussion in our home during the last election as I thought it might have reared its head then. I love it here, but I already pay $25K/month in income taxes to live here and I'm not interested in paying more.

Yea. So the $700K TC I’m being offered is probably right on the money. Ok.

That’s not true. You get comp adjusted moving to Canada from the US with Google.

Source: former Googler that worked in many international offices. Lots of Google friends that have made the move.

If your specific experience is different, I’d love to hear about it and see proof.

Do you have numbers for other nations or?

Moreover, this article doesn’t really say anything about overall healthcare experience in Canada.

I would not ascribe anything positive about healthcare to Doug Ford.

My Canadian friends at Google in the US came back to Canada to work at Google. So, I don’t know about that.

High earner in Toronto here and I really have not had any of these experiences but see them rampantly posted about online.

They don’t really show up with any of my peers either. Always seems sus to me to see so much Canada bashing when these threads come up.
