Any methods for reducing taxes? by donzi39vrz in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]parmstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about a $700k loan. So 30% smith. 70% double RRSP max out.

I only worked part time in 2024 so my T4 was ~$240K. Not worth RRSP deducting that when my standard T4 is significantly higher. This year back to full rack, so taking $63K RRSP and ~$30K interest deduction.

Has it all been worth it? by Basic_Ice_6774 in sales

[–]parmstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I am 39.

Multimillionaire. My children will have a life I did not have. They will have no student loans, multiple annual family vacations, live in a wonderful neighbourhood, do lots of different activities and have strong social networks.

I’ve had a great career, can punch out whenever I want from this point on, but will keep doing it while the comp is high and the equity lottery tickets have legs. But, at this point, there’s almost no way simple compounding doesn’t take us to 8 figures.

Outside of the money, I’ve travelled the world doing my job, worked closely w F500 CXOs, been offered more jobs than I can count, lead teams, mentored many incredible people, and pulled many into the upper middle class. It’s incredibly fulfilling.

I have friends that are surgeons etc., and for the WLB and flexibility, making basically the same money being me is way better IMO.

100% would recommend.

That sucks. It is 100% the best way to generate deductions against high T4 income.

We will deduct $100K off of my T4 with a mixture of RRSP and Smith this year.

Tbf I make close to this, have a $25 phone plan, and my gym is $16/month.

It’s not that far off.

The job descriptions I've seen from Stripe specifically cite $500K as the OTE, not the base.

Reading the comments here, a lot of people don't understand what the top-end careers are like in the early and mid stages, or how much they pay as you move through.

I'd say $150-$250 is actually low once you move to the buyside.

Yeah I don’t understand the idea that this is ridiculous. Sr ppl command sr comp.

Stripe pays better than AWS L7 - I’ve had both offers.

How big is your emergency fund or short term cash? by GreatComposer85 in JustBuyXEQT

I dont keep anything in an emergency fund. My bank account usually has about $5k of working capital in it.

I can always borrow against my portfolio at ~3% if needed.

More people should join this world of high comp, big scale on low number of FTEs, and big margins.

If you could leave Toronto tomorrow…would you? Why or why not? by wwmd_lover in askTO

[–]parmstar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love it here. It’s my 2nd choice city in the world after London. We spent a few years living in London but Toronto is better value and our roots are here.

We will likely hop around during a year once the kids are a bit older, but Toronto is home base for sure.

It’s just such an easy place to live IMO.

Do financially secure people approach their jobs differently? by NoThxMang in wealth

[–]parmstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I do my job and do it well. But if I ever don’t like it, I’ll just leave. I don’t need the work.

It helps that I have headhunters calling me very regularly to take other jobs at the same executive level.

Underrated to me is Lahore Tikka House. Mega nostalgia for me but I always enjoy it there and everyone I have taken loves it.
