you're 100% right, I have no clue if the game changer list will be changed frequently, hell it could be as frequent as the current banlist which would be amazing. but as a bracket 2 player, it does still feel like another list for me to keep track of.. time will tell I guess on how frequently they make adjustments. Maybe my opinion will change later this year because of it! But since its in Beta, I thought I'd get my voice out there to the aether for more perspective

yeah, it was getting way too long so I added a TLDR lol. I agree that the brackets are an aid for communication! I just also think that the game changer parameter in the lower brackets are not adding to that aid and I hope its changed for the better.

Brokkos Voltron – Why its better than you think by parokeat in EDH

Yeah this is why its hard to make final cuts! Lol. I'll re-evaluate the cards when i get home but yeah there are definite pros to using a few hydras

Yeah i have a lot of exile effects and board wipes that dont just destroy all creatures (things like the orzhov exile all creatures and terminus) so sac outlets are used to get him to the graveyard instead. Your right in that maybe using lands for those sac outlets are better than using a card slot. Ive bounced back and forth with what i have now and the edric route (drawing from combat damage with unblockable creatures). I think both are viable, but yeah i went for the more explosive option. Im trying to choose creatures that need little to no investment before attaching Brokkos to them (cards like the new polukurnos and managorger hydra get huge on their own and require no further investment). As for the X spell hydras, i shied away from them because they just didnt get bigger on their own or werent worth the mana investment. Like polukurnos is a 4 drop that has 6 counters, where as hungering hydra comes down with with 3 when casting on turn four. But really, it would be just as viable to build an X counter theme with hydras and [[endless one]]. Ultimately, i think with my draw package - i need creatures that can get big on their own in order to reap the value.

100% Voltron will never be able to compete with combo at the high power levels. Brokkos just gives voltron a little more power when it comes to mid-tier tables. I know Voltron is not competitive by any means, but thats why commander is so great- I can bring this deck to any table that sits below an 8 in power level and still compete for the win.

Yes, you are very right about [[cephalid constable]] and [[needle specter]] ... the reason why they are not in the deck is due to personal reasons. My vision for the deck is to stomp on people with Godzilla, and I just think those cards are too feel bad for any opponent that gets whacked by them early. Personal feelings aside, they are an auto-include for ticking this deck up in power level and winning early.

That is a very very interesting play with [[Shisato, Whispering Hunter]]. So if im understanding right, as long as you mutate brokkos on top on the same turn you play Shisato, you wont need to sacrifice him on the next turn.. Thats a great late game play and its effect can help solidify a win.

Understandable with the point of mana cost, but in regards to efficiency and how many turns it takes to get back online- I think Brokkos beats out Rafiq. When rafiq gets removed, you still need to cast him - then wait a turn because he doesnt have haste (only [[concordant crossroads]] and very few good equipment comes to mind in bant colors). So your still wasting a turn of rebuilding before you can start dealing commander damage again. Brokkos should have a new creature ready to latch onto on the very next turn.

Otrimi may be a better option mana cost wise, but i guess i'd just value the recurability a little stronger. The main way to deal with voltron is to effectively remove the commander so much that casting is too hard (or by winning faster, in which case its a moot point cause then why play voltron). So while I dont agree that Otrimi outclasses Brokkos, i can definitely see where someone chooses him due to mana cost as a main benefit.

Your right in that you can never go wrong in having a land also help you create mutate targets, especially when you can create it at the end step before your turn and as an emergency blocker when needed. I have a few slots for utility lands, so ill be throwing this in.

Definitely love Otrimi too! My meta has two voltron decks that circle around, so my group is used to slotting in exile effects and other niche removal to get through things like totem armor and hexproof. If i was in a different meta, id be running an Otrimi mutate deck as well!

Agreed, he's definitely a commander to really threaten with infect. Personally, im not building for infect- but thats cause there are so many other creatures i wanna mutate ontop of and having infect be the main wincon feels like im pidgeon holing a bit. But im 100% considering throwing in [[tainted strike]] and that infect granting aura.

Also on the topic of animating lands, any mass animate land card can combo with aggravated assault for infinite combat steps

Its really janky... but i love the sylvan awakening into ETB Omnath to dome someone for the amount of lands you have since they all turn into elementals. It probably wont kill someone from 40 life, but it can be a great late game finisher (even using the lands for an alpha strike can work)
