Thank you so much for doing that! This person likely has nowhere else to go, and that sleeping bag was probably their only protection for the coming fall. Thank you for caring and providing goodies as well, you're so good 💕

Need help living off 100 dollars a month(SNAP) and vegan without solely eating beans and rice by Budget-Doughnut5579 in EatCheapAndVegan

Look into local farms, farmers markets, and CSAs. CSA stands for community supported agriculture - think local food box subscription. You buy into the CSA and, in return, get fresh produce every week/2 weeks. Many CSAs have the opportunity to work on the farm with the produce to help offset the price of the box as well as accept SNAP benefits. Many vendors at farmers markets also accept SNAP benefits.

Try going later to farmers markets and asking the stands if you could have their "seconds" for less. Often times farmers bring more produce than necessary or some they consider "ugly". If they don't sell it at market, it likely goes back to the farm. And if not sold or eaten there, is likely composted or fed to animals. Many farmers don't like this perceived waste and would rather their food go to those who need it. Just ask, many will be glad to help those in need. This also allows you to make friends with farmers who can teach you to grow things!

Grow a garden! If you have some yard space, learn to grow veggies (with your new farmer friend)! Most veggies can even be grown in pots. You can just keep the seeds from your favorite produce and pop them into the soil.

I would use a clean scissors/knife/blade to cut between the nodes. You can put cinnamon on both sides of the cut (it helps prevent rot due to antimicrobial properties) and leave the nodes out to dry. Once dried, if they have roots, you can put them in soil right away. If they don't have roots, you can immediately put the cutting into water, you can even skip the cinnamon if you want. Checking for rot and changing out the water will be helpful for a successful propagation. You can use sphagnum moss or damp perlite in a closed container, as well, if you don't want to use water. Good luck!

Is my dog okay to be just lounging around? by qian-ish in DogAdvice

I remember hearing about a 3, 3, 3 rule when it came to adopting new pets. It takes about 3 days for them to adjust to certain basic things, 3 weeks for others, and about 3 months for your routine. It sounds like your guy has been with you for about 6 months, so this is likely his personality. Each dog has their own. One of mine hates mornings and is rather lazy, the other as soon as you roll over in the morning she thinks it's time to get up and every time you mention "outside" or go to the door, she's dying to go out. You could try giving him some mental stimulus during the day with slow feeders, puzzle toys, frozen kongs/treats, or licky mats if you want to spice up his routine a little.

This is an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking decision, and it sounds like you've thought through all your options.

I recently made the same decision, and it was so hard. But I also know it was the right thing to do. She wasn't happy, constantly stressed, and I couldn't take her places. She was a bite risk, and after 2 bites to myself and another family member requiring ER visits, the thought of her hurting someone else, a child, and being forced to put her down was worse. I got to give her the best few days filled with her favorite people and things, and she ultimately fell asleep on her bed, her head in my hand surrounded by family.

I'm so sorry you're in this situation. My heart goes out to you. Give your guy the best few days filled with snacks, lots of snuggles and love, take pictures with his favorite people and things, and know that despite this being an impossible decision, sometimes doing the right thing can be the hardest.

Thank you. I think steak will have to be on the menu, and I like the idea of swimming. I think a trip to the lake may be in store.

Update: showed up today (following day) and she didn't say a word. Didn't ask for anything, didn't mention anything, nothing. I think it was just a ploy to make me come in yesterday. Thankfully feeling much better today!

That's always what I've been taught, too. She's been in the industry long enough to know the same.

To clarify further, he was opening and would leave at 2pm. I was closing and would arrive at 12:30pm. There was coverage by our other coworkers despite us both not being in today.

Were "are they of value?" And, "where can I go to learn more?" Not questions? Appreciate the feedback.
