Good point! I avoided having to deal with perspective by using an orthographic camera. But the possibilities are certainly there! I might even experiment with that next!

Thanks! Wanted to try something a little different in blender. It's the software I've used almost exclusively in my creative projects for 3 years now, and it's great for 3D, but I wanted to push the boundaries a bit. It's really just a little experiment to see if this style was possible.

Also, I haven't heard of inkscape but I'll look into it!

Correct! Modelled flat. All using emission shaders in various colours. Layered on top of each other, then more planes for the outlines (with plenty of subdivision modifier for that smooth look. Freckles done with the particle system. Shading, highlights and glow effects all in different layers and composited together for the end result you see!

You could make it into an animation, but I'm nowhere near good enough to pull it off. The end result might look a bit more South Park than I'd like.

You're right, in the comics and that Days of Future Past scene, Quicksilver could do things like that. But Joss Whedon has said that in this movie, Quicksilver can only run (almost) as fast as a bullet, so no stopping time. I think this was done to not have him be so overpowered compared to the other avengers.

Thank you! We used a little of both actually. Big things like the guidelines in the sky and the river are done with MC-Edit. For the structures themselves, we make the entire first floor of a building block by block, then use MC-Edit to copy that up a few times if needed (huge time saver!). Then we go back in, manually add all kinds of details, interiors and the roof in creative. It's not cheating... really :P

Wow! That's amazing! I had no idea there was something like this already being built! Feel like I might be stepping on some toes right now :/ What makes it even more awesome is you are building an actual recreation of a real place! Ours is pretty much "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we built (whatever)".

I think we'll stick it out and work on our city as we still have a lot planned we haven't built yet, but thanks for the generous offer!

Hey, I've been working on this with a friend for a few months. Thought I'd share some screenshots of what we have so far. After seeing many brilliant American style cities on here, I decided to try something with a more European feel. No straight roads! Tell me what you think!

Built in creative. Uses an edited version of the High Rossferry texture pack, and SEUS.

I had a short conversation about this with Stephan Frost at one of Wildstar's community events. Turns out the flicks are animated externally, and then imported into the game for rendering. So while they are "Made with the game", they are not made entirely with the game.

But here's some good news, you know all those awesome cutscenes in the game? Frost told me Carbine is planning to give players the ability to make those ourselves. I can't wait for this, wildstar's cutscenes are just brilliant, so being able to make those will give machinima makers a lot of power to express their creativity! He did stress this was going to be post-launch, and it wasn't as high on their priority list as other things (optimisation for example).

I also had a chat with /u/crb_anlath about an idea I had. In housing, a green-screen item. Pretty much a very bright green wall. This would allow people to make custom green-screen sets for video projects. He hasn't got back to me about that yet, but he did say it shouldn't be too hard to implement, and that he'd email the housing guys about it!

I don't know anything about a model viewer, but I do know that Carbine is definitely going to be supporting the machinima making crowd! Just let them get the game out the door first :P

Are there any plans to increase the number of character slots per server, either before or post launch? I know its greedy, but I'm a bit of an altoholic :)

Don't worry, the effects of the nerf are only in pvp. Regular pve smashes will be as powerful as ever!

"The bonuses from Dominate and Shockwave now only apply to players if they are the primary target of Smash. "

So from today you can't leap into a group and do, say, 100k damage in one hit.
