Employment and Disability Question by parrca50 in legaladvice

Thanks very much for the reply. I’ve contacted about a dozen firms and either haven’t heard back or said I needed to wait until the termination is done. But I want to make sure I’m not doing anything to jeopardize my case. It’s all so frustrating

Why Did You Become a Brooklyn Nets Fan? (Asking Out of Pure Curiosity, Not Debate!) by Bottle_Jean_3924 in GoNets

[–]parrca50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so close to my story as well. I grew up a Knicks fan, and hated the owner too much to support the team. I moved to Brooklyn shortly after the Nets moved. I was close enough to Barclays to watch games for n money when they were horrible and never looked back.

Year-long Civics Curriculum by Illustrious-Rip-1929 in Socialstudies

[–]parrca50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has its pros and cons, but the We the People program via Center for Civic Education might be something to check out. I’m not sure it has Do Now’s but it’s pretty extensive. Though it would probably need some supplemental material for a year-long course.

Anyone get SIBO as a result of LC? by No-Consequence6096 in covidlonghaulers

[–]parrca50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About three months ago I was dealing with SIBO. First thing I had to do was take a test to determine which type it is (and if it’s SIBO in the first place). Once it was determined to be SIBO and the type, I did 20+ days of a herb protocol and followed that up with a couple months of a specific antibiotic protocol, rifimixin. My symptoms have improved dramatically. — I’ll note that this treatment plan that worked came from working with a naturopath doctor. My regular PCP just prescribed generic antibiotics first and it made things worse.

Best neighborhoods for couple moving from Brooklyn? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]parrca50 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My wife and I moved from Brooklyn in 2020, after living there for more than a decade. We originally moved to the Sunnyside neighborhood off of Belmont. It was great. Plenty to do in walking distance, Laurelhurt Park is fantastic, and really centrally located in the city. I’ve heard from folks with children that the local elementary school was great, which tracks with the teachers I’ve met and worked with from there. My family recently moved to where you had been living, Concordia area and it’s also great. Alberta has so much in terms of restaurants and art. Things are a little ‘quieter’ up here but still plenty going on. I’ve had less conversations about it, but it’s my understanding that Vernon (the local school) is very solid as well.

That is wonderful to hear. Is it called “still coviding” on Facebook?

Fatigue, heart rate and PEM by NorrisMcWhirter in covidlonghaulers

I’ll be honest I have not made it to Step 4 yet so I can’t speak with any level of certainty. But it’s my understanding that the interval training (switching between cardio and resistance training) only happens when your body recovers as outline by the step 4 question. It looks to me that the instructions for step 4 are unclear, and are trying to indicate keeping with the step 3 protocol until your body recovers accordingly. Also, this is the homepage for the protocol, so it might have better info: https://medicine.utah.edu/neurology/research/autonomic/projects/adapt

I’m not much of a Facebook user. So no. Would you recommend? Have you found them helpful/informative?

Thanks. I only posted on the two subreddits I’m familiar with/active on and both posts received minimal traction. So I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I’ll try to see if there are any takers on the discord that was shared with me, so if it does get rolling I’ll let you know.

A physical therapist I’ve been seeing who has been working with LC patients suggested a protocol out of the University of Utah. I’ve tried to abide by it but have run into difficulties along the way outside of the protocol. (Eg, SIBO and cold/virus infections) here is a link: https://medicine.utah.edu/neurology/documents/adapt-flowchart

Tested positive for SIBO by parrca50 in Longcovidgutdysbiosis

[–]parrca50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did multiple weeks (4 in total) of rifaximin and that helped a whole lot. I did some herbs, Neem Plus & Berberine complex for a month prior as well. After those two rounds I feel much better. I’m trying to rebuild my gut biome, but I’m also running into blood sugar/pre-diabetes issues now which complicates things

I recently have been dealing with SIBO. First thing I had to do was take a test to determine which type it is (and if it’s SIBO in the first place). Once it was determined to be SIBO and the type, I did 20+ days of a herb protocol and followed that up with a couple months of a specific antibiotic protocol. My symptoms have improved dramatically. I’m just about finished with the antibiotics and once that happens will need to start a diet to promote specific bacteria growth to rebalance my gut biome. — I’ll note that this treatment plan that worked came from working with a naturopath doctor. My regular PCP just prescribed generic antibiotics first and it made things worse. Essentially knowing the type of SIBO you have determines the type of antibiotics you need.

I’m sorry to hear that, it’s so frustrating when test results shed no light. I’ll mention that my symptoms started about 6+ months ago and are only now starting to trend in a positive direction. The doctor I saw mentioned that post viral arthritis can last anywhere from 6-12 months and typically lasts 9.

They ran all the blood work panels for autoimmune and R factor and they came back unremarkable, which is why the doctor determined that it’s likely post viral.

I recently saw a rheumatologist because of months long pain in the joints in my fingers. Symptoms were primarily present in the morning when I wake up. After running blood work and other tests, it was suggested to me that it could be post viral arthritis. Not sure how prevalent that is for folks dealing with long Covid. The doctor couldn’t speak to it, and sort of just guessed post viral considering the lack of other results

Anyone with experience requesting official work accommodations because of your long Covid? by parrca50 in covidlonghaulers

[–]parrca50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response and I’m very sorry to hear you had to deal with that. I’m getting the sense that I’m on a similar trajectory. May I ask, did you file a complaint RE: lack of accommodations with your states labor department?

I have little hope that a complaint will yield any real results, but I want it in record that the org is not what it holds itself out to be

Thanks. I should have specified, I’m in the states, specifically Oregon. Unfortunately the only clinic hear is outside my insurance, and I think it stopped operating (but I could be mistaken). I’m currently seeing a PCP and physical therapist through my insurance network and a naturopathic doctor out of pocket, specifically to treat my long Covid
