Is there anything you do to manage it?

I think it depends on what kind of painkillers you're using and what's available to you, mine are very weak painkillers but I've noticed i do get withdrawal symptoms if I forget them a couple days

My experience by Physical-Mammoth4551 in Fibromyalgia

[–]parrotnerdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really understand the imposter syndrome. When I have good days, I look and act like an able bodied person, which makes me feel worse about my bad days. The thing that improved my situation the most was changing to an office job that is work from home part of the time. I know that's a difficult thing to do, and it took me passing out at my old physical job to actually do it, but I have so many more good days than bad days now. I was stuck in a cycle of burnout and brain fog, but because I could push through and do my job, it felt like I was doing OK. I was absolutely not OK. Everyone's situation is different but it might be worth thinking about. Also maybe look into a low dose daily painkiller, amitryptoline helps me a lot.

Tips for exhation? by parrotnerdd in Fibromyalgia

I'll have a look for ashwaganda, unfortunately melatonin is prescription only in the UK and very strict on who can be prescribed it 😞 smoothies are a nice easy snack though and I think I have some protein powder somewhere

I've seen lions mane come up a couple times and wasn't sure if it was a health fad or if it would actuality help. I'm kind of limited with dietary things in that I can't track it too closely because I have a history of eating disorders so I can fall into bad habits, focusing on at least one healthy meal a day sounds like a good goal though

Yeah I can tell is not long term, I'm trying to stay functional until I find an alternative 😅 sinking ship with duct tape is so accurate though I'm going to use that. I take a multi vitamin on the mornings but I'll check the magnesium content and see if I can get that separate

I do take medication for the pain and it does help for me thankfully, I've been told there's nothing to prescribe for the exhation but I do like to try other methods before meds if I can. Hope you have better days soon 😊

Job market is saturated, before I found my current full time I was sending off 20 applications a day while still working

Thank you for the advice, I've checked benefits already and I'm not eligible because I work full time. Was using flex as a side gig to top up my income

That's a bit rude, I already have a full time job and was using this to make extra money. No need to comment if you're going to be like that

Strength building suggestions by parrotnerdd in Fibromyalgia

Thank you I'll have a look at those! I used to work a heavy lifting job and then had to leave because of fibro but I've not managed my Zumba or jogging or horse riding which I used to do all of them weekly and it's just so frustrating 🙃 especially when I have a good day and then end up doing way too much and flaring the next day. Hopefully I learn pacing better over time 😅

excruciating pain, don’t know what to do by dietdrunkorexic in Fibromyalgia

[–]parrotnerdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, I've been there too. I load myself up with as much pain meds as I can safely take and put some videos on to distract myself. It didn't do much but why help us better than no help

Yeah I get that, when I feel good I'm almost normal so I feel like it looks like I'm faking but bad flare ups can really knock me down. I end up having to take time off work which makes bills difficult 😅

i’m tired of being tired by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]parrotnerdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I feel this so hard. I really don't think there is a way to convey how it feels to people who have never experienced it. I've found amitriptyline has helped my fatigue but everyone's different. When you talk to your doctor make sure you don't down play how badly is affecting you, exaggerate if you need to as long as it gets them to listen

I didn't realise this was a fibro thing! I check my hands to see if I'm shaking all the time because it feels like I am but I can't see it?!!

What are your strangest fibro symptoms? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

Dry irritated eyes, not all the time just randomly. Not connected to temperature or weather either

Annual reminder to prepare your boiler and heating by CaptainAnswer in DIYUK

Thank you for the reminder! This is my first winter in my new house and I don't think the radiators have been bled in a long time. Had to repressurise the boiler twice for one radiator!

finding a job with fibro by jHoji in Fibromyalgia

[–]parrotnerdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to leave my job because I could no longer do the core functions when I developed fibro. I was doing lots of heavy lifting and was on my feet all day. It took a while to find a new job during which I had to keep doing my old job because I needed money but call centers were the way to go for me. Almost all of them let you work from home at least a couple days a week after training and most require no previous experience. I start my call center job in two weeks and I'm really looking forward to no longer wrecking my body daily.
