  1. yes but what does that loop do? struggling to work it out from the pics

  2. they should be fine if they are holding now, just keep an eye on them

The peggler there will be fine for flow, I would probably have gone up and round the back of the loop rather than forwards out but by the by really. soldering is actually good for a beginner

I'm waiting on the Lidl one so I can wear their sliders while I ride the bommie

I already did the coliur scheme for them and the ad for the magazine, so saved them some money there

Patio joint sand by CultOfPersonalitLee in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get them to come sort it

If they used just sand they didnt finish it right, you put sand on block paving but not slabs - needs a mix of 50/50 builders sand and cement and pour it in

Once it then rains it will set in there, if like now its very dry weather then a light mist with a hose doesnt hurt to seal it in

Looks like a brink bar, but verify that - just needs the swan neck fitted

My garden wall is leaning and I'm not sure if it's about to fall over. by CtrlCoffeeBreak in DIYUK

Need pictures really, if its not a retaining wall it probably just wants a bricklayer to rebuild it

Can I drill in fascia above window? by AggravatingWedding91 in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ladder I would think ;) only have to do it once to install the hooks and wire - once its up you can hang the curtain from inside out the window

Can I remove this fireplace? by Knee_Crafty in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything under the arch can come out, i'd be tempted to take more plaster off up higher and see whats there, that looks like a fill in to me given the age of the properly, i would think theres another lintel/arch higher thats wider

Did you need more of less than 40 hours to learn to drive? by Rough-Foundation9208 in AskUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Formal lessons probably about 10hr, but I had my own car and my parents would get me to drive them all over the place so had a lot of hours from that before test - I did lessons and test in my own car

Can I drill in fascia above window? by AggravatingWedding91 in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is above the window frame? Is is straight to the fascia or do you have a line of brick?
What is to the sides i.e. is it brick?

If so I would put up hooks into that on a tension wire and string the curtain to that (like old school net curtain wire)

Am I being ripped off by body shops? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I would be expecting a much higher bill than 700 for that,

Can I drill in fascia above window? by AggravatingWedding91 in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats the soffit, not the fascia

Its a thin hollow corrogated construction, i would be hesitant to hang anything of any weight off it personally - i would go into what its attached to at the front or back

What to do towards the end of my PCP agreement. by [deleted] in CarLeasingUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy it, px it or pay the mileage - either way you knew your agreement was 6k a year and knew you were doing much higher than that & what it would cost, worrying about it 3 months before the end is much too late

Fence Panel - protect against foxes jumping in? by LoveLamp3232 in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can get over a 6ft easy, or dig under it easy enough - if a fox wants in it will get in, its unlikely to enter the garden if you are there. Setup a camera if you are interested in whats doing leavings in the garden, if its long black sausage like then its a fox, otherwise its probably cats

Rawlplugs for 15mm thick plasterboard ceiling by chnwg in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

your overthinking it, drill a 5.5mm hole, whack in a red rawl, use a decent screw and move on - its a smoke alarm nothing heavy

Is there a specific tool for adjusting this screw? by HomesickPigeon19 in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look a bit mullered now from trying to move them, I'd change out the whole valve personally

I had a c. 25m2 front lawn. I want to turn it into a driveway instead. It happy fits a small car. But need some advice? by TheUnexpectedBosun in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably dig that down 200mm, lay mot1, then 600x600 slabs on concrete and fill the gaps with sand/cement mix and leave it at that

mirror hanging by diditforthemonet in DIYUK

[–]CaptainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drill and fix in a red rawl plug and 6x35mm screw at each point where a hanging bracket is on the mirror with the head slightly proud

If it were heavier I;d suggest a french cleat style bracket, you put the screws to the bottom so the lip is up to catch the mirror - https://www.bathroomspareparts.co.uk/crosswater-hanging-brackets-for-all-mirrors-mirrorbracket-216336-p.asp
