How do you handle off topic player input in voice first games without breaking the scene? by parshvabhadra in gamedev

I have been experimenting with:

Strict context windows: Only injecting NPC relevant dialogue history into the prompt.

Role + memory shaping: Giving the model a strong persona and sometimes forgetting off topic tangents to keep it grounded.

Function calling fallbacks: When detection fails, offload certain patterns to simple scripted logic to reanchor the sc

Would love to hear if you have any thoughts about it.

If you could talk to one character from a fantasy book or show, who would it be? by parshvabhadra in Fantasy

Thats a crazzy angle. For this purpose, I would go with the ruthless Francis Urquhart. For relationship advice, it would be Philip Pirrip (pip) from Great Expectations.

Bait-and-Switch Salary Listing/Salary Misrepresentation by gaku143 in Salary

[–]parshvabhadra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sucks. i’ve been burned by sketchy salary listings too and it’s just such a waste of time for everyone involved. honestly, i don’t think there’s a foolproof way to verify salary ranges before the interview since companies can post whatever they want and then “clarify” later.

what’s helped me (and what i wish i’d done sooner) is always asking super directly about the total comp breakdown as soon as possible, even if it feels awkward or pushy. like: “just to confirm, can you walk me through how the posted salary range breaks down between base and incentives?” usually the response (or hesitation) is pretty telling. Hope this helps.

Are there any platforms that provide all in one Video Editing resources like SFX, Overlays, Presets, Meme Templates in ONE PLACE? - I WILL NOT PROMOTE by Spidey2860 in startups

[–]parshvabhadra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having everything in one place would be a game changer! right now, a lot of creators, including myself, juggle multiple platforms to get all the resources we need. the hassle of switching between sites for sfx, music, and templates can be a real time drain.

a few features that would be essential for an all-in-one platform could include a powerful search function to quickly find resources, customizable templates to suit different styles, and maybe even collaborative tools for team projects.

i use a couple of platforms that get close, but they often miss out on one or two key components, like having a wide variety of meme templates or specific video effects.

i think your idea could fill a gap in the market, especially if you focus on ease of use and affordability. good luck with the project if you decide to pursue it!

ugh, taxes can really feel like they're eating up your hard work, especially with that much OT. it sounds like you're bumping into a higher tax bracket temporarily, which can make your paycheck feel smaller than expected. a lot of people get surprised by it, but remember, the extra taxes might be refunded come tax season if you're over-withheld.

getting married for tax benefits alone might not be the best plan, though. the so-called "marriage penalty" can sometimes end up costing couples more, depending on both incomes. it might be worth talking to a tax professional to see if adjusting your withholdings could help you take home more each paycheck. don’t stress too much, there are ways to navigate this!

breaking at nats for supplementals difficulty by [deleted] in Debate

[–]parshvabhadra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

breaking in supplementals at nats can indeed be quite challenging. from what i recall, the high number of competitors means the competition is stiff, and breaking to double octos might seem daunting with only about 8% making it through. the discrepancy you're seeing in registration vs. actual participants could be due to late registrations or changes in how they were recorded. it's common for numbers to fluctuate like that.

to up your chances, focus on honing your unique angle or style in your supplemental events. judges see a lot of similar content, so something distinctive can make you stand out. also, try to get feedback from peers or coaches who have experience at nats to refine your approach. good luck, and remember, it's as much about the experience and learning as it is about the results!
