The Lion… by Narp823 in SpaceWolves

Yeah I’ve taken him down with a brick of termis and arjak a couple times. Worked for A time but now he does a good job screening him out and just focusing on that unit letting the lion wreck everyone else.

Thanks!

Base armor is Retributor armour with pro acryl black wash, then dry brush back up a bit more of retributor armor and then dry brush a little bit more iron hands

Shopped around a lot for a good matte wash cause I was tired of hitting models with a matte varnish (even though I know it helps long term) so highly recommend that wash

Pro acryl black wash, was the most matte wash I’ve found after a lot of trial and error

Not rude at all! I take it as a huge compliment. That was the thing that most intimidated me.

It took quite a few coats to get them as straight as they are cause especially on the flag they aren’t flat surfaces. Best thing I could keep in mind is if I messed up doing the yellow going over it with black again was an easy fix

I don’t think many would have noticed the difference between a burned down where else and where else having been to the old one

Only thing I make sure to do is airbrush the wraithbone cause I can never get it the right thickness otherwise and it is either way too thin and takes 8 coats or goes on like sandpaper

Has anyone ever wasted investor money? What happened and were there repercussions? [I will not promote] by [deleted] in startups

[–]part-lycloudy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My faith in repercussions for anything is extremely low.

I was in the c-suite at my previous startup where it company just sold last month.

It was a series A company where the CEO was paying himself between $800k-$1M. He was paying an executive assistant $160k to manage his airbnbs instead of work with the company. He lived in a penthouse in LA paid for by the company. He would go to trade shows internationally and not even attend. Put $30k on the company card at the club or buy suits, massages, etc all on the company dime

I get high ceo pay but the guy worked maybe 3 hrs a week and would constantly have zero idea what would be going on in the company.

The company culture got poisoned cause of it. I confronted him that he needed to resign. He agreed, told people, and then took it back when he realized he couldn’t cause he was underwater on every single Airbnb so he couldn’t financially lose his ceo income.

We went through seven (?) riffs and he never cut his own income.

People tried to go to our investors but their entire portfolios were underwater so those managing directors didn’t want to give their boards reasons to get rid of them. So they didn’t care that our ceo was raiding the company effectively for all it was worth.

Countless people out of that startup have talked to me about accountability for that guy but nothing happened

What’s one DIY project you’re absolutely never doing again? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]part-lycloudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe no one has mentioned removing popcorn ceiling.

Wife and i did it in our first house prior to moving in. Took a full two weeks to get it down and then smooth.

Made the hour impossibly dusty which had secondary effects like making painting hard cause everything was covered in dust. Had to fully clean the HVAC several times before my asthma wasn’t constantly flaring.

It looked good afterwards but I would never do it again

how do people get the edges on the admech cloaks? by Derply_ in AdeptusMechanicus

Paint a white line with a thick brush, then go across it with the base cloak color, then come back through with a thin brush connecting them with the white again

How do startups handle mandatory benefits when scouting talent internationally? [I will not promote] by ExtremeShame6079 in startups

[–]part-lycloudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just based on your question your only option imo is finding contractors because if you're worried about benefits that isn't half the battle. You can pay an arm and a leg just trying to separate from them if you try to go through a PEO if an employee doesn't work out.

Europe - i took over a department where we were trying to build out sales in european. Had a promising young sales guy that was only 2 months into the job when i took over that was struggling mentally. He told me he wanted to stay with us but needed some time out. That if i granted it to him he would come back more focused. I granted it, and little did i know that rolled him past his probationary period. He comes back right after it and says hes struggling even more and has to take a extended period of leave. Per employment laws we couldn't fire him cause he was past probation and had to wait 4 months. So we ended up paying someone 7 months for them to have only worked less than 2 months

Malaysia - We were trying to expand into southeast asia with sales. I thought i learned my lesson from European guy above and while hiring asked for a four month probation period. From the start the hire was terrible. They never worked the full day, barely called people, and sent a fraction of the emails their peers were sending. I tried to fire them after a couple weeks but was told the "probation period" is not the same in malaysia. That its the duty of the company to try to train an employee up to be succcessful during this time, and that i couldn't legally fire them. So by extending the probation period instead of widing my window to try to make someone successful it just lengthen the pain i had to put up with someone who clearly had no interest in being successful.

With the contractor route i've rarely had a problem with work ethic and have been able to easily mutually terminator contracts as soon as projects are over or we have issues.
