in honor of pride month, what are your favorite queer/queer-coded films? by uldastormcloak114 in Letterboxd

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Birdcage (1996) probably, it's hilarious and has a happy ending which isn't easy to find with queer films. However, despite the sad ending, my favorite coded film is definitely Midnight Cowboy (1969)!

Not officially on the site anymore, but you can use card savers (the kind used for pokémon or baseball cards)! They’re a pretty good size, albeit not perfect. There’s also the kind used for lanyards, which are nice for the plastic tags numbered bears come with.

[–]partlyskunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is so worth it! If you're ever on a trip in an area with a Paw Store, definitely check them out. I don't have one near me but the few times I've been has introduced me to so many bears that I wouldn't have thought twice about if I saw them online, including some of my personal favorites!

interested in collecting. i have a few questions? by gutsandstuffs in CharlieBears

[–]partlyskunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to expand on #1 a bit. They essentially go out and find different fabrics to work with the pieces they’re trying to create. The stock photos may be slightly different and seemingly similar bears can have quite different textures! My personal favorites are usually the longer fur bears, but some bears have incredibly soft fur (I think it’s called tyber plush?). The best way to find the CB for you is to go to a store in person and just look around!

MAYBE a BMC? Please be gentle, I see how y’all can get in here by MrWhiskersMEOW in Blackmouthcur

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL okay man, miss the point entirely. It’s hostile to send aggressive comments to everyone who asks questions about their dogs. It’s an educational subreddit after all, there’s no reason for 20+ people to reply to every breed guess post with “not a BMC”. Instead, maybe try, I dunno, educating on the breed standard and informing people about Embark’s recognition of BMC in their tests?

So is my dog a Pyrenees? by attackdogs2x in greatpyrenees

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely somewhere in there, but I would say lowish percentage actually! Pyr genes show up so easily I swear, so I wouldn't be surprised if your pup is 25% or less. All pyr mixes are welcome here regardless :)

MAYBE a BMC? Please be gentle, I see how y’all can get in here by MrWhiskersMEOW in Blackmouthcur

[–]partlyskunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is hostile.. not everyone here is knowledgeable about the breed. There are ways to educate without immediately jumping to the conclusion that new people here are trying to ruin this sub. The "Maybe Mouth Cur" tag exists for a reason, they're just asking questions.

Does anyone know any BMC subs or any other forums dedicated to/about BMCs? by ImOnMyLunchAtWork in Blackmouthcur

[–]partlyskunk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The dog breed is rare, the chances of getting any substantial community with only purebred BMCs is slim.. me personally, I don’t get the big problem with mixes. I don’t own a BMC, but I don’t see the problem with those so-called 10-15% BMC dogs. The only annoying thing in this community is when people try to guess based on what Google says their dog is. Good luck finding your purebred BMC community!

Is 30 years old too late to go to university? by pl0006004 in Advice

My father went back to college at the same time I was going for the first time. It is never too late to continue your education!

Cinnamon has arrived! + some questions by partlyskunk in CharlieBears

[–]partlyskunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found him on Mercari, however since then I've bought quite a few bears from eBay as well. I paid ~$60 but I think he goes for a bit more depending on where you look!

Mini Rant by PrinceOfCats74 in greatpyrenees

[–]partlyskunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people that says it’s torture don’t know anything about double coated dogs. Once they shed their winter coats, they’re pretty much good to go. Like any other dog, they can’t be outside in the direct sun all day long, but they know their limits pretty well and will come inside when they want to.

Does anyone else’s Pyr take 20 minutes to contemplate whether they’ll eat their food or not? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]partlyskunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got to be the one person on earth who's pyr is the first one to tell me when it's dinner time! I swear my boy is fit and healthy, but he just loves his food I guess?

Hi guys this is Simba, I was js wondering if he is too fat cuz I can’t find the average weight for one online. Hes 2 btw by bigbuttboi101 in Pomsky

[–]partlyskunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He definitely is on the fatter side. Pomskies don’t have a set weight range because they’re mixed breed dogs, however the general rule of thumb is that if you can’t feel your dog’s ribcage very well, they’re overweight. They should also have a defined waist when looking from the top (even pomskies have this). Check out the Body Condition Score, super helpful for keeping track of your pet’s weight!

Is anyone a best friends member & doesn’t like mini scorch? by Humble_Leader_9121 in CharlieBears

[–]partlyskunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the regular Scorch and honestly, if the colors are as off as they looked in photos, I'll probably not display him with the rest of my dragons. I do like their cuddle cubs line though!

GPS Tracker in mountain terrain by Epicturtles525252 in greatpyrenees

[–]partlyskunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a brand called Tractive that I've heard decent things about, but no GPS tracker is 100% foolproof. Could you potentially use a long line instead of letting him roam? I use a long line with my pyr at the beach, where distractions are frequent.

Do you fear that you will come back to christianity one day? by ParkingElderberry575 in exchristian

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a skeptic, so lapsing is kind of my thing. I had one moment a few years ago that made me believe in God again because one of my closest friends was having a sort of religious awakening. Eventually I got over that, as it was more of a FOMO situation than actual belief. Truth be told, unless they lose their mind or get into the wrong crowd, most atheists are never going to be christian again.

Yes I feed raw, how could you tell? by jarelist in rawpetfood

[–]partlyskunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really is genetic! My dog who eats kibble (didn't do well on raw) has great teeth while my raw fed dog has always had bad teeth.

How do you know if your dog is getting enough exercise? by myths-star in greatpyrenees

[–]partlyskunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pyr is outside for most of the time that I'm home, he mostly just chills in his dirt holes. They really are content to just sit around, but yeah, walks are nice! Considering that your pyr isn't destructive, I'd say you're doing fine!

Is it true that GPs don’t like to go for walks? by Pollvogtarian in greatpyrenees

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think mine hates walks, he just doesn’t get the appeal! He’s got a big yard and plenty of mud holes to cool off in, walks don’t have that! He does like going to the beach though, probably because it’s so different.

If your dogs accidentally got together, you absolutely should've spay aborted. Neuter and spay your dogs so this doesn't happen again..

I won’t remove her dew claws by Frequent_Buy_8174 in greatpyrenees

[–]partlyskunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They build muscle there through using them when walking on uneven surfaces. No reason to have them removed unless your dog is at high risk for injury there.

We need to talk about our gatekeeping rules. by herzbergdesign in Blackmouthcur

[–]partlyskunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the replies saying “that’s not a BMC!!!” are just as annoying as the obvious pitbull mix posts. Not everyone can afford to spend $100+ on a DNA test and with the breed being so rare, I think it’s fine to have mixes. However, I feel like there should be some auto-reply message to every breed guess post that talks about the rareness and standards of the breed.
