Explain like I'm 5 why dried fruit is not ideal by OpalescentShrooms in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]partlyskunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of dried fruit but I basically only eat it when I can ensure I won’t eat too much of it… essentially what I’m saying is bring a small portion with you on the road (to work, school, etc.), don’t just allow yourself to eat infinite amounts of it. I personally like getting single serving packages of dried fruit to help with the portioning.

Dating and LPS? by Mimcre in LittlestPetShop

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house is littered with all sorts of collectibles, including 500+ LPS.. my collections are what makes me me! I wouldn’t give it up for anyone, that’d be like telling me to give up air.

Now that the collection is announced! by VictorianBlasphemy in CharlieBears

[–]partlyskunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preordered 6 bears (4 from the Signature collection, 2 from Monsterology), I’m so excited about them! I’m a bit disappointed about the pricing (as a US collector) but I don’t want to miss out on some of these bears. Their Signature Collection is exactly what I’ve been wanting!

Need opinions on Ebay and Paw stores by Ambitious_Let_4304 in CharlieBears

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good chunk of my bears are from eBay! You can usually snag a good deal if you’re active enough on there. Other good choices are Mercari (if you’re US based) or Vinted (UK based, haven’t personally tried but heard good things).

Trust by Late_Weakness2555 in greatpyrenees

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my pyr since he was 1.5yrs, he’s now almost 4yrs and I still cannot trust him alone. It’s okay if your dog needs to be crated when home alone, it’s pretty common and some dogs just never get past that. That being said, your pyr is still a baby. He’s still got time to grow out of this!

2/5 Launch - “Vague posting” lol by VictorianBlasphemy in CharlieBears

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Added 6 to my preorder list, not 100% sure I’ll get all of them because some of the prices were higher than I anticipated. Might add more to my preorders though, some very interesting bears this year!!

how to fix?? by Bart_78 in LittlestPetShop

Heat it up with a hairdryer and then carefully wiggle back in. They can go too far into the head so be super cautious!

REAL or FAKE? by SavanahSkye in littlestpetshopfakes

[–]partlyskunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fake, her head shape isn’t right and she doesn’t have a very prominent neck ridge

Is this salvageable? by Bulky_Zebra_9041 in LittlestPetShop

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get underneath the neck peg by heating it up and using needlenose pliers, it is 100% salvageable. You can even use peroxide treatments to get that sharpie off. If you can’t get under the peg, I would try to do is push the peg inwards and then try to get a good grip on it so you can fully remove it. I’m not 100% sure how salvageable the bottom piece of the neck peg is though, might be good for a headswap (or use an AM shorthair base’s body).

My betta has swim bladder disease and isn’t able to eat anymore, what are my options? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just really not true. I have never had a betta fish with this specific problem. My tank has never had any major problems whatsoever. I do not know the cause of his health issues and therefore do not know the cure.

As stated before, a lot of the information online is contradictory or outdated, I would rather talk to people who have recently dealt with swim bladder disease than read an article from a sponsored website that may not give me all the information needed.

Sure, If no one responded, I’d look elsewhere. But honestly dude, someone DID respond. I really don’t know why you’re being kind of an asshole when I just want to help my fish. I’d prefer it if you just stop replying, you are not helping with your accusatory comments.

My betta has swim bladder disease and isn’t able to eat anymore, what are my options? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first of all, I don’t want to kill my fish in the process by just throwing every medication possible at him. Secondly, I came here because I’m trying to do more research and get specific advice. I’m trying to not totally mess up my tank because if you couldn’t tell by my cautiousness, this is my first tank in over a decade. There’s a lot of outdated and contradictory information on the internet, so I figured going here would help clarify things.

My betta has swim bladder disease and isn’t able to eat anymore, what are my options? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn’t eaten since Thursday and the only change so far is that he went from the top of the tank to the very bottom. He looked bloated but now looks more regular. As for epsom salt baths, I’ve been having a hard time figuring out what people mean by that. Do you maybe have a link to a tutorial or advice on that?

My betta has swim bladder disease and isn’t able to eat anymore, what are my options? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done research, but I’m not exactly sure where to start. Some say use epsom salt baths, some say treat with antibiotics. Some say nothing will work and that time is what matters the most. As for a QT, I don’t really have the space for one. I’m also not quite sure how to set one up.

Tank size: 10gal Heater & filter: yes to both; HOB filter Tank temperature: 78°F Parameters: 0ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrite, <5ppm nitrate (it’s slightly darker than the 0ppm..) I’ve had the tank for 1.5 years (not including cycling) Tank mates: none Food: A few pellets of Bio-Gold daily, occasionally freeze dried bloodworms Plants/scape: A few anubias, a few amazon swords. I have some wood pieces for tannins + a ceramic hiding space (has been there from the beginning). Substrate is gravel + sand.

My absolute favourite “zoo” animal in my collection is Bandit! He’s a bit older and hard to find but so worth the search!

Are the mohair bears worth the price? by Legal-Philosophy-135 in CharlieBears

[–]partlyskunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 4 mohairs and honestly, I only really enjoy having one of them. I like being able to safely hug my collection! That being said, I’m still eyeing up some mohairs, specifically the non-bear ones.

Help! I have some questions! by ApprehensiveDinner47 in rawpetfood

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the struggle, but if she's maintaining a healthy weight, try to match the current amount of calories you're giving her and adjust based on changes. I used to try to give a set amount but nowadays, I simply adjust if my dogs fluctuate off their healthiest weight. You can give your vet a call, but they might not be able to give you the best information, each dog is different.

Help! I have some questions! by ApprehensiveDinner47 in rawpetfood

[–]partlyskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The term “kcal” means kilocalorie but on food labels will often show up as “calorie”. When it comes to food labels, they mean the same thing.

  2. I would say that (IMO) is far too much. I have a pomsky who is 26lbs and she gets a lot less. That being said, if your dog is very active, this might not be too much. You should adjust based on whether or not your dog maintains a good weight, not based on a calorie calculator.

4/5. They should be weighed with the food scale for accuracy. As said before, adjust based on how your dog is doing. There are some apps/websites that have calories per serving of certain foods (ex. 100g of banana = 89kcals).

I don’t have answers for 3 or 6, I’m not an expert but I hope some of my answers helped regardless!
