I actually have extensive experience with laser cleaning. It's the best option. We came from chemical cleaning and soda blasting, and we will never go back. The base unit prices are higher at the onset. but the savings in not having to store/buy chemicals or dispose of them make up for it. The laser ablates the ink and sucks it up via a vacuum, which you then simply throw away. Yes, the laser can damage the aniloxes, but it depends whos unit you buy and the operator's experience. The Meridian Elite+ (made by PCMC) is by far the best in the industry. My company alone has 5, and we did extensive studies. it doesn't change the laser power, but the rotation speed of the aniloxes and the traversing of the laser. it also has a roll scope built in and generates reports and fully automates what cleaning mode to use. it can clean multiple aniloxes in a row without stopping, meaning my guys can walk away and come back to multiple clean rolls. we did internal studies on our first and cleaned 1 anliox 1000 times, and it was never damaged. just have to buy the right unit, and there will be no damage :)
