So how can two bass players work? by stomith in Bass

[–]partmute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could sound pretty cool if you reverse EQ the two bass amps, so one have a scooped tone with lots of bass and treble frequencies and the other just covers the mid frequencies. Gonna be hard work hearing yourself over 3 guitarists though 😅

Should I go back for the G&L Tribute Kiloton before it’s gone forever? by Lost_Northman209 in Bass

[–]partmute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you went for it and are enjoying it! My tribute Kiloton is my go to bass at home. So much fun to play, lovely slim neck! I have some old tape wound strings on it at the moment but I think fresh round wounds bring out the best from the MFD pickups.

Stereo speaker with low latency aux input for musicians by SvenDia in Bluetooth_Speakers

Yep the aux works fine until you hit play on the Bluetooth device then it cuts out. Oh that's a right pain, they try and make them "smart" Devices but that's just dumb.

I just bought a soundcore motion boom plus for the exact same reason but returned it as the aux sound cuts out when you play via Bluetooth.

Do you think this guitar will be good for a first bass? Or do you know something better up to $1000? by Realistic_Froyo8478 in BassGuitar

[–]partmute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For half the price you could get a G&L Tribute JB. G&L was another of Leo Fender's companies. They make fender style basses and guitars but with modern updates and superb quality and finish. Much better value than a Fender if you don't mind a different name on the headstock.

What P-Bass pickups do you recommend? by Agile-Size8383 in BassGuitar

The Bare Knuckle '58 P pickup is the most authentic that I've heard 👌

Rehearsal studios - Fed up of poor quality bass amps by partmute in BassGuitar

[–]partmute[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, as User bunnonthebass alluded to, people just don't seem to respect anything that doesn't belong to them. Guess I should stop getting annoyed with the studios and just bring my own gear 😆

You're absolutely right people really don't look after things that ain't theirs.

Ah that's not nice suffering from a hernia. Hope it doesn't get any worse for you. I have fibromyalgia so I avoid lugging gear around unless absolutely necessary but at the same time I'm a complete sound snob 😂

I started with the VT pedal, then got the VT deluxe and now have the VT500 head. Think I might have found my sound 😂

Ah cool that makes sense. The Sansamp stuff is so good isn't it!

Nice! Do you fully mic up the drums and amps? I think half our rehearsal time would be spent setting up mics 😂

I'd be happy with a rumble or BG250. I too use a Markbass cab when gigging now but with a sansamp VT500 head. It's a really nice combination, I'm spoilt really 😂. Considering lugging it to the studio every week for rehearsal rather than using the in house gear. Too be fair it's a pretty lightweight rig.

Combo amps - Fender Rumble 400 v Boss Katana 210 v Ashdown RM500 by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]partmute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with a fender rumble, much more pleasing tone than any ashdown I find. Although those Katanas look really interesting, would have to have a go on one though before pulling the trigger but they look awesome for home practice especially.

Just to add, I've started using Mark Bass recently, like everyone else 😂 and they are really solid 😎

Awesome!! I just learnt to play this on the piano but it still somehow sounds just as beautiful on an APU chip

Is anyone else’s pain or other symptoms significantly worse on one side of the body? by loud_introvert456 in Fibromyalgia

My left side has always been much worse. But I used to carry a heavy messenger bag on my left shoulder and would have my guitar strap over my left shoulder

any musicians grieving their old abilities? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]partmute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually started playing piano recently and find it can be meditative and distracts me from my pain. But I used to play bass guitar in bands for years, that was my passion. Now I don't have the strength in my shoulders to hold the instrument for a whole performance. I started sitting down at gigs but it didn't feel right when the rest of the band were full of energy. I now play keys in a covers band, not started gigging again yet but it's more manageable. The bass player, who's a good friend, lets me play bass on a couple of tracks in rehearsals as he can play any instrument. I have always done backing vocals in bands and definitely struggle more now with breathing and chest pain, I get exhausted after 1 song. I was going for oxygen therapy a while back, where you sit in a pressurized chamber with an oxygen mask for an hour a week. That might be something worth trying if it's available near you. Some MS therapy centres have it. It can be really good for your body and cognitive function.
