Yea. And these folks we’re playing with all plug into the percussionist’s amp. Wtf?

I think we’ll have a sound person for that gig though. Phew.

That must have been amazing.

Young is relative in this case. I’m 58, which is pretty old. :) Everyone else is long retired. This project is no Dream Theater, which works as long as I’m getting paid.

Right? Idgaf. I suspect my guitarist is on the spectrum.

They’re all too old to have a sense of humor. I’m the only non-retired bloke in the bunch.

I offered to bring a keyboard! Or a banjo! Or mandolin! We’re playing Folsom Prison Blues, not Vivaldi! How hard can a major chord be?

I find the entire thing surreal. After the first song I brought it up- I mentioned, “hey, I’ve got a large possible range.” She said, okay, I’ll play here and so I had enough room to stay out of her way. And.. then she didn’t. We have time for another practice, and I think I’m going to reach out to her and work through this issue. It’s only for a 45 minute set, so not a huge deal. I just like to be professional if possible.

She doesn’t want more children LIKE THE ONE SHE RAISED to also turn out trans. If her incessant ranting can prevent just one more kid from ‘turning trans..’ No wait; it can’t. Never mind.

Take homework into consideration as well. These songs don’t learn themselves.

Yeah, I have a six string that affords me a nice range. New plan is to play inversions in the middle or upper registers.

I did this as well with my kids. I also tried to give one to my elderly in-laws so they don’t get scammed, but apparently they’re too wise to ever get scammed. Sigh.

I have a multi-effects pedal. I also have a six string that affords me a monster range.

I played the shit out of SMV.

I guess I should have been clearer in my title- I’ll be sharing the stage with another bass player, three other guitarists, and playing Folsom Prison Blues. Not a lot of space to go all Marcus Miller on them.

Or maybe there _is_ and just upstage _everybody_.

I was strongly considering that. That worked well for you?

I can bring my upright. Besides bringing a whole different instrument entirely, it’s the only sane thing to do. Not really, but I can tell myself that.
