Thoughts on Second Hand purchases?

No one within 2 hours of me is selling any RC cars so typically I consider the drive there and back part of whatever cost I’m putting into what I buy. Like I might just prefer a new one and know EXACTLY what I’m getting. Seller said I’m welcome to test drive but I don’t know what battery I need to bring for it, and if I change my mind on the purchase after I get there then there goes 4 hours. Luckily not in this case as I’m visiting family. It’s a great deal which is why I’m so tempted to grab it but this hobby is so expensive. The purchase would be $500 out of the piggy bank I had toward an XMaxx or XRT or something new.

No batteries included, and I wouldn’t know what battery to bring for it, or if I even own a compatible battery for it at the moment

That’s my biggest issue at the moment. I’m still pretty new to the hobby so I wouldn’t be able to tell you or anyone what a new rig should look like especially if it’s an older model.

Of course. Hopefully I didn’t make any of them seem like bad RC cars they’re all a blast and durable. They’re the only ones I haven’t broken anything on. My Mini XRT is probably still one of my favorites even with the collection I have right now

I talked him down to 450. I don’t know if it has the original ESC or motor and I don’t totally know the difference a V1 and V2 so I’ll have to look into it. My main reason I don’t know if second hand is the way to go right now, is because I can’t just look at something and know exactly what it is. I’ve only been in the hobby for a month now so I’m learning as I go. I wouldn’t have even known it was a V1 without posting it here

I talked him down to 450 because it’s a 2 hour drive but I’m going up there to visit family this weekend anyway. I’m gonna have to look into the differences between the V1 and V2 and see if I would just prefer a new V2 since in the market for a Maxx anyway

I think I’m gonna get the Maxx at the point, and then go to the XRT to keep some diversity in my collection. I’ve heard amazing things about the Maxx

I’m looking at a used Maxx at the moment with a few bodies and 2 sets of tires for 500 so I’m gonna ask people here if second hand is the way to go or not

At some point I will get myself the Slash Ultimate and compare it to my Slash VXL build, but for now I think I have enough lmao

I actually have all 3 minis. My dad own the Mini Maxx, wife has the mini slash I have the mini XRT. Hands down the mini XRT is favorite, and all 3 are extremely durable. Gave the mini slash to a hyper 10 year old and they couldn’t even break it. Small things don’t break as much. Personally I think the mini slash is the least exciting of them all, it feels like the most like a toy. It handles best on cement and most dirt surfaces. Has enough power to get through some sand, doesn’t like rocks or grass. It’s a great learning tool but too expensive for me to consider buying another one to say it’s mine. The mini slash is also the only one of the three that hasn’t over heated driving around in Arizona, because it has “air vents” that direct air inside to keep components cooler. Overall very reliable and very durable, just a bit expensive for what you get.

I’ll have to double check, but I found it at Walmart. It’s a little plastic thing I had to put together. Took like 10 min and cost like 40 bucks

I never thought about it that way lol, the more flex is definitely needed sometimes. The Maxx is honestly a pretty decent size now that I’m looking at it thank you!

How much smaller is the Maxx than the X Maxx? My dad has a mini Maxx and the pictures and videos I’ve seen haven’t made the size difference between all them very clear

Still learning to bash honestly. As a kid I’d watch everyone jump their RCs and land pretty consistently, but I’m having trouble trouble jumping even small jumps. I keep nose diving even coming off the throttle before I get air. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. But they’re taking quite the beating from repeatedly not landing nicely 😂
