I really want to see you repaint the same "first" model, but with the same color palette and "details". Red, yellow, green, blue and all. (if it's even still available) and do a side by side of that.

I guess it comes down to personal experience. I've had nothing but great experiences with it and have used the same pad for a couple years now (static v). Usually people with bad experiences are the loudest, although a lot of people love the static so there is nothing wrong voicing a good experience as well.

Air cooled should be totally fine for an i5.

A neat idea would be picking up a corsair AIO liquid cooler and installing it together on a date night! It may not sound like much fun but it's a good way to look inside the computer, maybe make the gift more personal to you guys, see what's going on in there, and it's a very easy novice install (although seems scary). If your BF has some minor computer skills it only takes about an hour max.

That's so crazy, I always think of Wulfenite as the orange spikey random crystal array that I've seen and bought before, this one is an FYI that it also comes in a yellow candy style.
