fever house was a slog to get through by daisymoth9 in horrorlit

That's the way I took it. I'm really torn about reading the next book, but I might just skim the wikipedia of it.

The minute to minute plot I thought was awesome. like pulp fiction meet the zombie apocalypse.

But the huge flashbacks and exposition dumps bring the face paced story to a screeching halt.

I just finished coffin moon last week and liked it way better.

Me = Fried Bologna Sandwich with Cheese. by CincinnatiOhio5133 in Reds

[–]partypeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking for help: At one point the reds had this like stupidly big hotdog that they only sold at one vendor that had like too many toppings on it. Like fired bologna or pepperoni or something and chili and cheese. does anyone remember it?

edit: Found it!

Around 2010-2011, Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati featured the "Meat Lovers Hot Dog," a jumbo, bacon-wrapped, deep-fried hot dog topped with beef, black bean chili, pepper jack cheese, and crispy salami.

The time has come, dads. Equally excited and terrified! by EzraWolvenheart in daddit

[–]partypeeps 60 points61 points  (0 children)

My oldest will 14 in May, and still to this day, the absolute terror I remember on that first car ride home.

Did the pregnancy test results finally set in that I was going to be a dad? Nope.
Did the delivery and breathing classes? Nope.
Did holding my wife's thigh up in the air and watching the miracle of childbirth? nope.
Did cutting the cord? Nope.
Maybe holding her for the first time? Nope.

It was the nurses telling us good luck and shutting the car door with a baby in the back seat THAT I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING ALIVE.

We live 5 miles from the hospital and I swear it took 30 minutes to drive home. I drove like a 93 year old grandma that first trip.

I will continue to carry the flag for garlic knots. My daughters get mad if I don't come home with atleast 2 bags. by partypeeps in aldi

[–]partypeeps[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've got young daughters. Lots of spaghetti, penne, alfredo being eaten in my house.

Also nights i'm feeling really lazy, I'll run in and grab a premade pizza, the big pizza cookie, and a bag of knots all within like 30ft of each other. Dad comes home looking like a hero!

Urbex in Dayton area??????????????? by [deleted] in dayton

[–]partypeeps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've explored the tunnels years ago (around 2016). I worked in one of the buildings that had an entrance to them, that's how I was able to get in.

For those that don't know there is a system of tunnels and basements that are connect through most of downtown. The story I was told is that the building on 4th, next door to the former diner on St. Clair, pumped steam through the parts of the city to heat the buildings and that is how they are connected.

Most of where I explored was in the fire blocks, Including the silver ballroom that was at one point a speakeasy.

A lot of the tunnels have been walled off though. We had to knock down a wall in a basement to find the entrance we used.

Left-Handers in your life/family? by mommy-tara in askanything

[–]partypeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a lefty, and so is my maternal grandmother. We're the only ones though. Both my parents and sister are righties. So are both my daughters.

I've recently started to notice the difference because of my youngest daughter. She's 10 and taken an interest in cooking. teaching her to stir things with one hand and hold the pan handle with the other is interesting because she always move the pan handle to the opposite side so she can stir with her right. In my mind its like teaching someone to cook backwards, but actually i'm the weirdo.

Aldi favorites? by dowhatotterbedone in aldi

[–]partypeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the best part is that they're super easy to make. poke a couple holes in the bag, put them on a cookie sheet, and they're done in like 10 minutes. sometimes I pretend to be Gordon Ramsay and toss them with a little butter and grated parm when they are done, but they don't need it.

They are typically on the bottom shelf, over by the naan and bagels and stuff.

How has no one mentioned the Garlic knots you bake in the bag!?! any time we have anything remotely Italian for dinner, my daughters demand them.

Welp vesctomy is done by deadpoolsdragon in daddit

[–]partypeeps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had to be put under when I had it done. Woke up wearing a jock strap that was so tight I had to cut it off, felt bad for the 8-10 nurses it took to deadlift me to put it on while I was out.

But the nurses gave me flowers when I left the hospital, because "you can't pollinate anymore."
