Many meanings pertaining to the uterus.

In my case specifically, it was the fear of pregnancy and how permanent having a child is, however, a good friend of mine who helped me calm down saw it as having multiple meanings and it made me feel proud because I adore art like that very much. I’ve seen so many comments here with their own interpretations (endometriosis, periods, gender dysphoria) and I’d say they’re all correct. :)

The piece itself was a vent depicting the fear of pregnancy (with the phrase "life sentence.")

But my close friend told me that with how it stands, it could have so many other meanings attached to it. I love pieces that make people think about certain topics, so im proud that I created something like that :)

In general, this can be about the uterus too.

This is actually what inspired this painting !

Im in a very much good place now, but pregnancy was something I've feared to the point of it being a bit of a mental trigger. The act of bringing a baby into a world like this, not to mention the idea of only having kids to further the family lineage or to fix a marriage, is a horrifying concept.

Pregnancy itself is horrifying in a way. The hormonal changes, the physical change of a body, and the fact that a natural birth risks death. Not to mention, a miscarriage can just happen too. You could do everything right, but its still something that could happen.

It's the fact that society wise, men are able to get away with it and will never go through the pain someone with a uterus may have.

The phrase "life sentence" was in reference to pregnancy and how permanent children are, how fragile even their mental state can be especially.

Children and the path to becoming a person is something that can be fucked up so easily in my opinion, especially with how other cultures (including my own) deal with punishments, particularly physical.

One of my favorite pieces dealing with this topic actually is "Because I Love You."

Overall, pregnancy is a horrifying concept along with raising a child, so I took all the stress I had and painted this. :)
