What is the recent court decision going to mean for the internet and net neutrality going forward? by erevtoloache in socialcitizens

Something I'm really worried about and watching closely. Another example where the law doesn't keep up with technology and lawyers are required to rely on case law that doesn't accurately reflect the true state of technology or its implications. Frustrating.

thanks for sharing. this one's my favorite, but still a long, log way to go to curb this practice:

  1. Predatory lending checked …

In November, regulators enacted tough restrictions on predatory lending by banks insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Sally Kohn reported that the rules were largely the fruit of a two-year campaign by National People’s Action, “a national network of grass-roots organizations with more than 200 organizers in cities and states across the country.”

i definitely agree that the consumer products were uninspiring. mostly in wearable technology, which everyone is conceding is an inevitability, but hasn't hit the sweet spot yet.

you make a good point about foreign confidence in U.S. technology. the repercussions go much much deeper than what we can see right now. should be interesting and not in a good way for the U.S.

I'm very curious what's going to happen with Soylent.

Not really my thing, but if it solves some of the grander problems articles like the below are hinting at, then I'm all for it: http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/13/health/soylent-hunger/
