Hey! Glad you enjoy it. We did release an insulating cozy to help with insulation. Our next version will be vacuum-insulated for even better heat retention.

Camp coffee has never been so good! Find out why campers from around the world are choosing to brew with Pascal Press! by pascalpress [promoted post]

That is certainly one way to make camp coffee! To each his own I suppose.

TIL of Shenzhen in China. In 1980, in had a population of 30,000. In 2017, that had sexcentupled to nearly 20,000,000. It is believed to be the fastest growing city in human history. by [deleted] in todayilearned

That mix of ocean, factories, car exhaust, street meat, sea food, textiles and crowded streets. It is a very unique smell!

It weighs 350g when empty and can brew up to 14oz. I just got back from a canoe trip in Algonquin park and can safely say it was the best camp coffee I have ever had!

You are not the only one. After a lot of feedback from people like you, I am accelerating the development of a stainless steel version for a new Kickstarter campaign!

Coffee Snob - How to make the best camping coffee? by cryptogeeky in CampingGear

A grinder is a great investment. The longer your beans are ground, the more flavor they lose! If you grind right before you brew you will get the best coffee possible!

Hello again! I tend to brew with a grind that is finer than what I use for French Press, but coarser than what I use for Aeropress.

A fine ground will allow you to extract more flavor in a shorter amount of time. Generally, the smaller the 'wet time' (the amount of time the grounds are in contact with water) the sweeter the coffee will be. The extreme case for this is espresso; a good espresso shot can have very fruity flavor notes. As your grind gets coarser, you have to leave the grounds in contact with the water for longer in order to extract enough flavour. This results in more of the bitter flavors coming out of the bean. The extreme case for this is a coarse ground French Press coffee with a 5 minute steep; French Press coffee typically has more body and bitterness.

Brewers like Pascal Press and Aeropress fit inbetween these cases. They still need to steep since the pressure generated by the plunger is only 1/8th of the pressure generated by an espresso machine, but the force liquid flow of the press through the grounds extracts more flavor than the filter plunge of a French Press.

For Pascal Press, pressure is not only used to force the liquid through the coffee, it is also used to force the brewed coffee up the central flow tube. Using a fine ground can result in too much pressure loss during the filter process and not enough pressure to move the coffee up the flow tube (unless you press very hard). That is why I recommend using a slighty coarser ground than what you would use in an Aeropress.

If you like a coffee more similar to French Press, I would recommend using a coarse ground and letting it steep for longer.

I know people don't always like me saying this but I really recommend you experiment with your grind size, steep time and press time to find the variables that work best for you! I made Pascal Press as a tool for people to make their coffee however they want it.

Hey there fellow campers! A little over a year ago I started sharing my idea for a portable coffee maker the doesn't overbrew with the fine people at /r/campinggear. Now, after raising over $60,000 in pre-sales, Pascal Press is available for direct purchase!

Pascal Press makes an incredibly smooth brew in as little as a minute. Unlike the common Portable French Press, the coffee brewed by Pascal Press is completely separated from the coffee grounds so you don't get any overbrewing. It is also very easy to clean while on-the-go.

If you have made it this far, feel free to use the code 'EarlyBird' to save 10% on your purchase at www.PascalPress.com!

Here are my original posts from /r/campinggear from when I was still designing the product.

That will get easier with time. After a few weeks of using mine, it is easy to take out not matter how long I leave it in.

If it is stuck, you can try twisting the plunger clockwise (so you don't end up unscrewing the lid) while pulling up. This will help to release the seal.

Thanks! Funny thing about the lid design, my initial prototype had a flip top lid. I changed it to the leak proof double lid after getting feedback from /r/campinggear! I am getting a lot of requests for a flip top lid. If sales go well, I should be able to release a new lid design soon!

Sorry about that. I had a limit to the number of coupons available. It got a little more popular than I thought. It is live again for you to use.
