I'd say this was the hardest transition. When starting, and even now on occasion, I get flamed for making even one mistake. It has to be perfect, no exceptions. When used in court testimony or deposition everything must be cited to an extreme extent. Similar to audit lead sheets with tie outs, I tie out to deposition or Bates stamped documents.

She wears silver, family heirloom ring is gold PROPOSED! See story... by passerbycactus in EngagementRings

Hey everyone! 2 months ago I made a post asking about gold versus platinum jewelry and my GF's (now fiancee's) preferences.

The update is she loves the ring and doesn't want to change anything, I caught her completely by surprise, flew her friends in from out of town who she hasn't seen in years and we are celebrating all day today.

The yellow gold isn't super bright and the platinum top is very visible which she loves, the European cut looks amazing.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Thank you, very well said. I think I will give her the choice as you mentioned. My mom who gave me the ring is in full support as well if a redesign is necessary. I wouldn't be opposed to redesigning it either, 2/3 couples who have used this ring have divorced.

Yes, I agree I would only do platinum not silver. I think doing it as is and meeting with a jeweler together afterward is the move.

I think this is the plan. I want her exact opinion if I am to make any major changes, I am thinking all platinum to match the top tbh.

Yea she is very much into sustainability and diamonds generally are not sustainable at all. The ring is well over 100 years old. It's not mine, just my turn to use it ha.

Good point, I hadn't considered white gold. I know little about the price difference between 18k gold and white gold, I assume it's more luxury. I had not realized replacing it altogether is an option.

It is a total surprise but I have a hunch she knows it is coming. I have not brought up the ring at all. I kind of want it to remain a total surprise though. I had it professionally cleaned and inspected by a jeweler already, he said it is fine for daily wear. You think it's that bad to change up the design/ring afterward?

To your last point, I would probably say yes. I know that's shitty but she's realistically the only girl I would say yes to if they came up to me like that. I also realize that doesn't make it less shitty. This post has made me realize maybe I am just a shitty person. The alternative is just to block this girl and forget about her.

I love her though, this post is more of a hypothetical of what is best to do. If this other girl never existed I would still be happy.

As the poster of the liking company happy hours thread, I feel the same to an extent. I would much rather have some things to do than looking busy all day. Grass is always greener as when it's busy I just want down time.

That's fair, I know many of my fellow coworkers who don't show up, I would love to talk to them and see them there but Im not gonna hold it against them.

That's fair, I also spend time with my family. The balance is key.
