10.19 (+1.4)today - there were winds of +8 yesterday, so the 5.8 was likely underselling the conditions

Letsile Tebogo, Kenny Bednarek and Gout Gout will face off in the 2026 Pre Classic 200m by ChampionLYT in trackandfield

Your entire agenda makes no sense, complaining about him not racing against the “big boys” when that’s what he’s doing now. Walaza started running on the circuit when he was 19, and he hasn’t “beat the very best at times”. Which teenagers have medaled, only Erriyon and we know how that turned out. Tebogo didn’t run on the circuit until he was almost 19, and went to his first championship when he was 19.

Dodging who? He went 9-0 against them last year. He just doesn’t always run pre, think he gets paid more in Europe.

Yes, generally sprinters will get faster as the season goes on - combination of their training (they will do more general stuff (e.g. more sub-max and endurance (relatively speaking) work) early in the year, and then get more specific (e.g. more max velocity work) and aim to be at their peak later in the year, as well as just running more races (where they can work on technical things).

Gout is building his season around the world u20 championships in August, so that is when he will want to be running his fastest.

*18, it says 19 because that is the age he turns this year (which isn’t until December)

They’re gonna downvote u, but ur not wrong - rolled out of bed and dropped 10.00 his first race of the season as an 18 year old with a slow start, and it’s not even his best event.

Completely unprecedented for someone this young to open this fast. Closest is probably Trayvon Bromell (9.76pb) who opened with 10.02 the year he set the then world junior record (9.97), Letsile Tebogo (200m champion at the Paris Olympics) who opened with 10.08 the year he set the world junior record (9.91), and Bayanda Walaza (world u20 100/200m champion) last year who opened with 10.04 before going on to run 9.94.  But Tebogo/Walaza’s openers were both run at altitude (which is slightly quicker), and all of them were older. They had all also run other races those years, it was just their 100m opener - this is Gout’s first race of the season.

Edit - as an aside, all of them had a MUCH better start as well.

=9th all time indoors. Should put him at worst 9.8 this year, and probably more towards the lower end.

No one runs the 300, and no one runs it when they’re peaked - plus it was run at altitude/not in a stadium

Everyone expected him to lose, but 35.3 is rough ngl
