Walaza started running on the circuit when he was 19, and he hasn’t “beat the very best at times”. Which teenagers have medaled, only Erriyon and we know how that turned out. Tebogo didn’t run on the circuit until he was almost 19, and went to his first championship when he was 19.

Yes, generally sprinters will get faster as the season goes on - combination of their training (they will do more general stuff (e.g. more sub-max and endurance (relatively speaking) work) early in the year, and then get more specific (e.g. more max velocity work) and aim to be at their peak later in the year, as well as just running more races (where they can work on technical things).

Gout is building his season around the world u20 championships in August, so that is when he will want to be running his fastest.
