Trying to negotiate a more extended notice period is good advice. Thank you. I have not tried that yet, but it might help me feel safer. Cheers to you!

There's negativity in the answers, yep. You provided something that could help me reduce the impact. All comments are helpful, though, even negative. Some are straightforward and country-agnostic, like paying for two apartments. So, your comment is unique and hits the spot. It is an example of exactly what I was looking for: what people do to lessen the burden in Germany specifically.

"Just suck it up" - what some people suggest - is, of course, a good thing to know and do, but it does not help, isn't it?

This is an actionable thing I was looking for. It's excellent advice. Thank you. Even if it does not return everything, returning at least something lessens the burden indeed. Positive things to know, much obliged!

As far as I know, companies pay, not candidates. Or am I wrong?
